So on one hand you say Auburn can't move to the east because the east would be too tough. On the other hand, you say Auburn wants to move east for an easier schedule.

Can't have it both ways

I'll be the first to say it and I don't give a damn about it. I don't want Auburn in the East and I hope that it never happens.

I sympathize because I'd be skeered of big bad Auburn too if I was in your shoes.

The severe case of PTSD from watching Ronnie Brown Bowl over your best defensive players must've been rough.

The OP messed up the original idea slightly. This is really what it should be:

Washington Generals Division:

Missouri
Kentucky
Vanderbilt
Arkansas
Mississippi
Mississippi State
South Carolina

Blueblood Division:

Alabama
Auburn
LSU
A&M
Georgia
Florida
Tennessee

Admittedly Tennessee and the Mississippi schools being arranged like this is an anomaly.

But don't you think this setup would be fascinating?

Auburn wants out of the West because it's a tougher division at the top -- Not because of some BS distance excuse you're trying to sell. Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida fans aren't jumping through the roof to make sure that this happens because of some "Traditional rivals" BS. That's laughable. Auburn wants this change for its own selfish reasons. Not for parity. Give me a break.

Your theory is great, except for the fact we were pushing this even when the west wasnt so great...

As long as Saban is here, I would not want to play the Iron Bowl and turn around one week later and have to do an Iron Bowl rematch.

Bama and their admin. feel the same way. The TSIO will remain intact regardless of what anyone else says. I think they are indifferent as to which division AU resides, but the TSIO will take precedence.

Which would work out well for Bama since you'd pretty much only have to play LSU in terms of a consistent threat but would leave Tennessee playing 5 of the big 6 teams every year. Talk about a murderous schedule. It would be different if we were all playing all teams like we did pre-expansion (and yes, Ark/USCe = expansion not TAMU/MIZ which is crows circling a dying conference and taking advantage). BUT with the way things are now, it would be incredibly unfair to not only Tennessee first and foremost but also the rest of the proposed East too.

53–38–7 Bama over Tennessee all time. If I was a Bama fan, I'd want to keep that matchup too.

Yeah, but at what point does having more great games outweigh that?

Florida/Auburn would be great to have back as an ongoing thing. You know that game has actually been played more than Alabama/Auburn has?

What made Tennessee/Alabama so much more special a game than Florida/Auburn? Besides you know, the SEC office being composed of Bama homers?

Auburn is a tough customer. But while I like Missouri, I'd rather our students and fanbase have a close commute like that, as opposed to the 15 or 17 hour one to Missouri. Little details like that are what lead to good rivalry games. Hard to get something going cross country.

And my odds of running into an Auburn fan to talk sh$t with are a lot better than a Missouri fan.

So neener, neener Vol. Go win the Championship of Life or something.

While I don't think TAMU can claim to be a blueblood they do fill out that final spot fairly well. It would resemble some of the old school schedules for sure. Tennessee played all of those teams minus TAMU and UF regularly when teams scheduled on their own.

It would be fascinating for sure but it would put the division at a disadvantage in terms of anyone making a playoff. A schedule like that would definitely take it's toll on teams, even BAMA would suffer the grind of it. Whoever emerged would run roughshod over the Washington Generals Division even if the Blueblood Div Champ was a 7-4 team.

Alabama continues cross divisional rivalry with Tennessee. Auburn will replace Missouri as Arkansas' permanent opponent.

Iron Bowl is more important than Bama-Tenn. Arkansas/Tennessee is a game that should happen every year (used to be permanent cross-division opponents).

I would love to see the UF-AU game played annually again.

If when we went to divisions we started out playing one permanent cross divisional rival instead of the two, I'd guess Auburn probably would have been in the East. Don't think they would have ended the annual rivalry back in 1992.

Iron Bowl is not more important that TSIO. Tennessee is considered the top rival for Alabama.

Actually, you can.

Auburn moving to the East makes Alabama and LSU's trip to Atlanta considerably easier.

While making Atlanta considerably harder for Florida, Tennessee and Georgia.

In what world does having 4 of the best teams in 1 division and 2 of the best teams in the other benefit all involved?

It doesn't.

It makes the West a weaker even more top heavy division and throws parity out of the window.

FTR, you're gonna have to try a lot harder with the shade than Nick Marshall running wild on one of the worst Tennessee team's in 100 years.

Auburn fans and staff look like a bunch of pussies trying to weasel out of the West fwiw. That move doesn't benefit anyone outside of Opelika.
