Just wondering tho, how important is the Tenn-Bama rivalry to the fanbases?
Very.
I think both teams see it this way: BAMA probably despises AU more than Tenn while Tennessee despises UF more than BAMA but there's no question that we still hate one another and that TSIO is the game for both teams**. AU and UF don't have nearly as much history with us and haven't really earned the begrudging respect we have for one another's program because both saw their programs rise in later years as opposed to earlier on in their histories. Both UT and BAMA fans know that their hatred for UF and AU is a new development, particularly the more heated aspects but for UT-UF the rivalry born of the sheer force of Spurrier's and Fulmer's wills has been dying a slow death since Fulmer was fired with Spurrier's departure being the first blow.
**Note this really depends on the age of the fan with younger fans hating AU and UF a bit more than older fans.

We look like pussies because we would want to play UT, UGA, UF and Bama every year? k.
I would even like to play LSU every year. We need a 9 game schedule.

Absolutely nothing of what you said was relevant to my post.
Do you think Bama/LSU is tougher than AU/UT/UGA/UF? If so, then you can't claim the East is too tough. If not, then how can you say Auburn is moving to the East for an easier schedule? Also keep in mind that Auburn would likely still play Bama in the scenario that we want.
Like I said, you can't claim both.

Which would work out well for Bama since you'd pretty much only have to play LSU in terms of a consistent threat but would leave Tennessee playing 5 of the big 6 teams every year. Talk about a murderous schedule. It would be different if we were all playing all teams like we did pre-expansion (and yes, Ark/USCe = expansion not TAMU/MIZ which is crows circling a dying conference and taking advantage). BUT with the way things are now, it would be incredibly unfair to not only Tennessee first and foremost but also the rest of the proposed East too.
They've put the 9 game conference schedule up for the vote several times and the ONLY program that wants to go to 9 SEC games is Alabama.

I don't care which division Awbun's in. Just please God let them stay on our schedule.

“You look at the map and obviously it makes sense,” Malzahn said before teeing off at the Regions Traditions Pro-Am, though he did acknowledge, “There’s a lot more to it than just the map and all that.”
How do you get "lobbying" out of that?

Well let's go with that. What would the rivalry games look like then, if Auburn did go to the East?
LSU:Florida, Auburn
Alabama:Auburn, Tennessee
Mississippi:Vanderbilt?,?
Mississippi State:?, Kentucky?
Missouri:?, ?
Arkansas:Tennessee?, ?
Georgia:?,?
A&M:?, ?
As a South Carolina fan, I know some schools have a built in recruiting advantage, have been historically, and will continue to most likely be very good.
But I want games that our students and fanbase can get to easily, as much as possible.
So A&M, Missouri, Arkansas, and probably LSU are too far.
Really wouldn't want to go any further than the Mississippi schools from this prospective West (would already play Auburn, and Alabama's dance card is full).
So what is your idea?

Importance isn't the same thing as hatred. As I said in my last post (see above) I think TENN and BAMA despise UF and AU more than one another while at the same time considering TSIO the most important. Also the level of hatred depends a great deal on your age. UT and BAMA fans who are 30 and older tend to hate BAMA or TENN most while the younger ones hate AU and UF most.
However, despite the age range or where our hatred falls there's an importance on TSIO that just isn't matched. It's in no way a narrative to belittle UF or Auburn -- just the way it is for BAMA and TENN fans.

Now we have a thread that will last all day and will undoubtedly pop up at least 2 dozen times over the summer.
The SEC is in better financial and competitive shape than it's ever been. The SEC puts a national championship contender in the mix every year. Why change a conference that's at the top of its game? Don't fix what ain't broke!

Auburn should move to the Sun Belt. They have to resume the historic rivalry with Tulane.

Of the original SEC Teams, AU was negatively effected the most by expansion. They had to give up their two biggest traditional home games every other year (UT, UF) and added two teams they only played on occasion (LSU, Ole Miss). It also caused AU to drop the GA Tech series. Their main recruiting area is GA, AL, and FL, when they lost the UF game, it effect recruiting. AU bent over an took it for the league, but I think they are rethinking their willingness to go along with the SEC Offices.

I can imagine, Richt and Smart both salvaged their jobs by beating AU. I bet you wished GA Tech would join the SEC West.

He knows repeat losses to MSU will get you fired. Smart move if you think about it.

Auburn can move as long as we don't lose that game.
LSU-Auburn is fantastic.
I would think Auburn fans would agree with this.

Shitty headline is shitty. Gus is not lobbying for this.
In OP's link-
He simply acknowledged that it makes sense looking at a map, and added "but obviously there's alot more to it than that."
He's not lobbying for it. StopRobot = Dumb
