This would really leave LSU with not many good home games at all...

Unless Missouri gets a lot better, the West would be as boring as the East is now. I do not think LSU-Missouri every year would excite the season ticket holders.

Of the original SEC Teams, AU was negatively effected the most by expansion. They had to give up their two biggest traditional home games every other year (UT, UF) and added two teams they only played on occasion (LSU, Ole Miss). It also caused AU to drop the GA Tech series. Their main recruiting area is GA, AL, and FL, when they lost the UF game, it effect recruiting. AU bent over an took it for the league, but I think they are rethinking their willingness to go along with the SEC Offices.

How do they plan to buck the system?

You say AU bent over and took it for the league, but whate else could they have done differently? The wheels of progress and expansion were moving, I don't see how one program could've stood in the way.

The 1992 expansion caused them to lose the TN game, but were allowed to keep UF with the 2-1 (Traditional/rotation) opposite divisional schedule. Then the league office change that rule, so UF appeared less often. When the league went to 14 teams, AU will see them and TN even less. AU could have insisted on moving to the East in 2012 and it would have solved their scheduling problems. Having UF and UT back on the schedule would guarantee the need for expansion of JHS.

What would propose doing about the Iron Bowl because Bama doesn't want to give up the UT game?

Who do you think Bama would chose if they had a gun to their head ?

I like this...and like the English Premier League, the bottom two teams from the Elite Division would be replaced each year by the top two teams from the Junior Division. Only the winner of the Elite Division can play in the Playoffs. Talk about pressure to win each year so that you don't wind up getting sent down to the minor leagues...

I think it would be best for the conference honestly.

Just wondering tho, how important is the Tenn-Bama rivalry to the fanbases?

I'm a Bammer and I don't give a flying leap about the "tradition" of playing Auburn or Tennessee. The Auburn rivalry has been a bitter one for probably all my life and the Phil Fulmer "secret witness" b.s. ruined what used to be a respectful rivalry with Tennessee.

Tennessee frankly....much longer history with them than we do AU. I know Battle was pretty adamant about keeping it should AU realign

You made a funny. But it is actually workable. Take your proposal, and still play the championship game.

If someone from the Generals Division knocks off a Blueblood, so be it. Conference champion. The playoff committee will still pick whoever they want, so that may not mean as much.

Only thing is with the top and bottom two possibly swapping, it can mess up rivalry games you want to keep going in perpetuity.

They won't drop the TSIO simply to accommodate AUs desire to go the East. That just won't happen.

Again, what would it do to Bama's schedule to play TN every year and AU every 5-10 years? I do not think anyone wants that, especially the Bama AD.

I don't think we'd need a Conference Championship Game with this scenario. With all the guaranteed competition between the top teams, this would probably increase revenue.

If one of the teams drops out, the you can schedule it out of conference if you must have it.

No one wants to see either go. But without further scheduling realignment Bama is the loser here. AU gets to keep Iron Bowl and UGA but Bama has to pick one.

I think Bama is indifferent if AU wants to be in the East but I am certain they don't want to have to give up one of their biggest games. Not an equitable situation to Bama.

I say move both Alabama and Auburn to the east, Mizzou and Vandy to the west.

Solves all problems.

Saban floated a 9 game trial balloon

Where were Gus and Jacobs on that one?
