both teams will learn a lot next week, A&M was horrible but Florida was worse than A&M last year. Florida definitely has the most talent except for Oline and RB. A&M went through the most offseason transition and now has no cupcake game to see what it looks like on the field, and Florida's cupcake bit them on the Aaasssss. Florida has a coach that fell flat on his face last year in the SEC but has potential, A&M has a coach that over achieved in the friggin Conf USA but has never had a team in the SEC.

Vegas odds makers are losing sleep over this one.

A&M will win by at least 2 TDs. UF, for the 3rd year in a row has no discipline (penalties) and no offense. Our defense that was supposed to be all world looked like they took a bunch of ambien prior to kick off.

I DVRd the game, but I just erased it. Watching us once is hard enough. My expectations for this year were fairly low,as I was hoping for an 8-4 type year. I just wanted to see a sign of life from our offense, strength on the LOS, and crisper cleaner play without penalties every other play. I saw none of that.

We suck. Like the Brad Paisley "Celebrity" video where William Shatner tells Brad that his favorite part of the song was the end so it will be with this years Gators. My favorite part will probably be the end of the season, you know, when we stop playing football.

Just try to enjoy the games, and not worry about the entire season.

I'm just glad UF football is back playing again

I'm rewatching the game on SunSports while having coffee.

In 2nd Q right now, Brissett just entered the game with it tied 7-7.

As an outsider with little interest in Florida football, save for how they impact the rest of the league in how they play, I looked at Florida as an 8 or 9 win team this year.

After watching them beat Bowling Green, I actually feel slightly better about 9 than 8; it's not right to lump Bowling Green in with some of the dogs we saw SEC teams play in the first week-- they're the favorite to win the MAC East and contend for a conference title-- and they're pretty assuredly going to be a bowl level team.

It's not to say they're world beaters, but 'competent football team' is not a stretch-- and Florida made a ton of very correctable mistakes in that game, that helped keep it close. The execution was lacking, there were some blown plays, strange coaching decisions, and hallmarks of otherwise looking like a team that's still looking for an identity.

I still expect Florida to win @ TAMU; if TAMU has any discombobulation or first game flatness, it may be one sided-- if not, it may be a pretty good game.

No fricking clue how it will turn out. If you ask me, I think we shite the bed again, but only because that's the A&M I know and love.

One thing that was interesting to me last night, however, was the fact that Texas State dominated UH. Was it all Keenum last year, or was Sumlin a miracle worker? I have nothing other than that to work with, so any prognostications by me would be coming straight out of my arse. It'll be a good time though.

We won't know what we have at QB until we play 3 or 4 games. I expect our untested, redshirt QB to be up and down and periodically make some poor decisions as he gets experience.

The key to this game is going to our known strengths on Offense - O-line and RB play. I expect Florida to stack the box to stop us from running effectively. Manziel is going to have to hit some throws to loosen up the D.

I expect we will counter by spreading the field with 3 or 4 WR's and trying to exploit 1-0n-1 matchups. If Manziel hits some throws we will get big plays. A poor day by Manziel will result in interceptions or multiple 3-and-outs.

It's still impossible to predict what will happen next week with so much unknown about A&M and the question of how much of UF's struggles were first game oriented vs "it is what it is".

I don't buy that Pease is going to bring Boise to UF. Chris Pederson is the key to Boise's offense and that has been proven by the other OC's that have left Boise and unsuccessfully made the other teams "Boise". Doesn't mean he isn't a good coach but I don't see how a year as OC at Boise makes him a genius either.

The defense looked very good. Good speed and size and hard hits. It's hard to tell how it will translate next week because the talent differential offensively is mammoth between BG and A&M. Can they pressure the QB against the A&M OL? Can they cover up the skill players that well? We will find out.

The Florida O certainly didn't look very scary. The OL looked pretty average. Not a lot of big holes being opened up or a feeling that the QB had all day. Still not bad. None of the RB's or WR's looked particularly impressive. Solid, but not a lot of "holy ****!" moments where you would expect guys with far more "on paper" talent to demonstrate against a team like BG. Neither QB was very impressive. Not terrible but not much to get excited about either. I had the feeling that with better pressure on them they could start to really make some mistakes, it will be interesting to see how they handle the very unfriendly environment of Kyle next week.

Lots of "first game" mistakes. Penalties, out of synch offense, etc. UF just didn't look very comfortable. The game was still in doubt going in to the 4th quarter which is not a good sign. Still, that could be the "work out the jitters" game or it could be a sign of a long season to come.

Lots of teams struggled yesterday that you wouldn't expect to. I will say that if either UF or A&M plays at the same level UF played at yesterday they will likely lose and possibly lose big.

We did some good things, we did some crappy things. Lots of holes were opened up by the OL but not on short yardage. QB had some time to throw too. Penalties need to be fixed and the defense needs to tighten up. I think this was a pretty good Bowling Green team though. We have some players and I think we can be pretty good. I loved to see Pease absolutely pissed in the coaches box when we didn't execute properly. It makes me think he won't stand for crap and will iron out the mistakes.

If you put a gun to my head I would take us vs. the Aggies but I would be sweating like a ho in church. Here's to an injury free game in College Station and may the less shitty man win.

It'll probably be a low-scoring affair early on with one team breaking away late to win by 1-2 TDs.

I'm not gonna say I'm totally confident in it, but I just don't see Texas A&M, in their first game implementing it, running the Air Raid offense effectively with a freshman QB against a big and fast Florida defense. The Air Raid offense is a lot about timing and rhythm between QB and receivers. With the long offseason and the lack of a first game to work out the kinks, I don't think it's going to be very effective yet. Look what happened to Mike Leach.

A&M will need to run the ball effectively to score points IMHO. And so does Florida.

Mike Leach couldn't run the Air Raid at Wazzou yet because he has no offensive talent. A&M has a LOT of athletes on offense that can make a mistake into 6 points in a hurry. The key for UF is going to be keeping those athletes from getting loose which is going to be a significant challenge.

The Air Raid itself is actually quite simple compared to the pro system A&M ran last year, the playbook is Cliff Notes vs War and Peace.

Texas A&M will NOT be able to run the ball against us next Saturday and have much success. Our defense will stop the run game. Bowling Green had a sharp sr qb who threw very quick short passes...we broke up a lot of those..we played a lot of true frosh on defense too btw.

If A&Ms defense is the same or worse than last year...then we will wear them down...Muschamp is determined to run and pound the ball and I agree with that...the pass game will improve and Driskel has a great set of wheels and can flat out run if need be...he just needs some snaps.

If we dont committ more than 1 turnover we should overcome home field advantage...more than 1 turnover is not good. Should be close game and decided in 4th qt...our team is very well conditioned to win at the end. Our defense can come in waves...Damien Jacobs (JUCO), true frosh Dante Fowler, Jonathon Bullard will bring pressure to give starters a break. Our secondary is loaded with talent and LBs have backups like A. Morrison, Mike Taylor, Darrin Kitchens who will provide breathers.
I think we treat this game a little differently than Bowling Green. Prepare for hard nose defense....SEC style.
