Yall are paying Sumlin 5 million a year after a 4 loss season. You should probably worry about aTm's relevancy in the present and not USC's relevancy in the future

Kevin Sumlin is 20 years younger than Spurrier, his best coaching days are in front of him. How many more years is Spurrier going to give USC?

Clock's ticking

I agree. One SEC East title in one's tenure in the SEC is no accomplishment.

I think USC fans have started to take Spurrier for granted. Compare their program now to what it was before he arrived, and compare his accomplishments at USC to what he did before he arrived. It seems clear to me what's going on here.

I maintain this is a case of a top 5-10 coach of all-time working a small miracle with a historically low end program. The odds of Spurrier being the sole catalyst behind this run are far greater than a sleeping giant being awoken which will carry on long after he has left.

Insightful post.

The flaw in this logic is a team drops in the ranking after you beat them.

He'll retire after the 2017 season.

Was the loss to UGA last season a loss to a good team or to a bad team?

That's the part that the final rankings doesn't take into account.

It was a loss to a good team, you should know that.
I mean we did watch the same game didn't we? UGA had a bad string of luck last year that started in Tennessee, otherwise dawgs are sitting right there at the end in the top 10.

South Carolina has never beaten Auburn in SEC play.

Unfortunately I don't see that changing this year at Jordan-Hare.

We had our chance 3 years ago

Yet so very little to show for it.

I guess when you lose to the tennessees and kentuckys of the world it kinda offsets the ranked wins.

Rather them than the UCF's and Colorado's of the world.

Neither of those losses kept us from winning the east so joke's on you!

ETA: And to elaborate further, even though I know you were kidding..the year we lost to UCF we were 6-6 going into the game and playing in a mediocre bowl game, the loss to colorado was in the same year as well. At the very least, we can say we sucked when we lost to those other crappy teams. SC is losing to sucky teams when they are legitimatley good and have a chance to play in atlanta.
