This is the SEC. The SEC cares more about baseball than softball. The SEC builds $50M baseball stadiums and pays baseball coaches $1M+.

27 of the first 150 picks the other week in the MLB Draft were current SEC players. So far, they've signed for $18,407,700 in signing bonuses and that is with 9 of them still waiting to sign or their amount be released.

Thanks for proving my point

Well, year in and year out, this conference produces multi-millionaires in the sport. As long as it is a stepping stone for one of the biggest sports worldwide, it will remain a big time sport in the NCAA, particularly in the SEC.

College baseball is the backup plan when you don't get picked to be in the stepping stone, to the next stepping stone, to the next stepping stone, to the MLB. It is literally 4 tiers below making a MLB roster. And you don't even get a full scholarship for it. Sometimes junior college is actually a better option than playing D1 baseball. College baseball is more comparable to high school baseball in quality and style of play than it is to the MLB.

If it is a source of pride for a few individual fan bases in the same way that wrestling is to a few midwestern schools, then great. But don't equate it with football and basketball when trying to compare athletic success and prestige on a national level.

If you're denying it's the 3rd most popular sport in the SEC, I don't know what to tell you.

Y'all bama fans keep pimping softball like it's actually something though. I wonder which one Bama is good at

So basically what ONE first round football pick makes.

It is the 3rd most popular sport in the SEC in the same way that the Libertarian Party or Green Party is the 3rd most popular political party in the nation. In other words, barely relevant because the other 2 dominate.

No, SEC College Baseball is comparable to AA baseball, per scouts. Which makes it comparable to SEC basketball and SEC baseball in regards to their parent professional leagues.

The SEC had 60+ players on Opening Day rosters, and the 2015 AL MVP and 2015 AL Cy Young Winner. Max Scherzer, a former Missouri player, is on track to compete with Clayton Kershaw for the 2016 NL Cy Young.

The #1 pick in the draft just signed for $6.1M in bonuses.

So basically your argument is against baseball in general? Because guess what, if he gets to the majors his first real contract will dwarf anything anyone in the NFL gets.

I played it, but you would have to pay me to watch it now. Haven't watched a game on my own in 16 years.
