Lol if Kirby is this salty already, imagine how he's going to act when Josh Dobbs does his Cam Newton impression on Georgia's defense again this fall.

Butch did something like telling a blind date over the phone that she is beautiful. How would you know? You haven't even seen them yet.

It's not what he said, it's how he said it. He came off like a salty douche bag even if he was "smiling" when he said it. Personally I think it's funny, but he comes off like a clown.

I expected more from seasoned message board posters.
Well, you have to remember that when you live in a place where there "ain't no telephone bills", information comes slowly, and piecemeal at that.

Well...if you played against the team the year before and know who is returning...and if you recruited most of the players who signed with Georgia in the '16 recruiting class...and you recruited most of the players that Georgia red-shirted last season....I think you would have a pretty good idea of how good they could be.
Unless you are saying that Kirby dismissed all of last year's team and is starting completely over...in that case, Butch wouldn't have any idea.

This is what is known as "saving face". You were clueless about the entire quote and context when you made the OP, so now you have to save face. Not a bad effort...but I've seen better.

How is he being salty? I genuinely don't understand.
All he basically said was, "I'm not sure that we're one of the best teams, but Jones runs a good program that I respect."

Absolutely nothing wrong or noteworthy about what Smart said. He is absolutely correct. Whether it is the media, other coaches, or whoever outside of the program, he is correct to point out that those people couldn't really know yet whether Georgia is a good team, one of the best, one of the worst, etc. It's a pretty benign off the cuff observation for everyone to be getting so worked up about.

Nah, we'll have Chubb back by then, for sure, and you won't have your shitty turf advantage. Y'all don't eliminate Chubb last year at the opening of the game and the whole thing likely goes very, very differently.

He just spent the majority of his career with Saban and folks in this thread are shocked that he is going out of his way to downplay his teams talent. Also maybe he thinks butch is a fat lesbian like the rest of us

So you're placing the blame for Georgia's defense getting lit up by Dobbs on Nick Chubb's injury and the grass that everyone was playing on?
If not for a freak goal line fumble and a picked up flag on a block in the back call on a punt return, VOLS would've blown Georgia out. See, we can play this game all day

Kirby Smart... the poor man's Will Muschamp. Figured I might just skip football this year since Malzahn has gone all Mr. Coach Klein on us but this season may not be a total loss. At least there should be some comic relief.

sounds to me like Butch is making excuses before the season even starts.

Speaking of context. Tell me more about the feelings I had when making this thread Mrs. Cleo

Not entirely, but Georgia's offense going 3 and out over and over again was definitely a factor late.

So, you're saying that a dominating running back who keeps the ball out of the opponent's hands wouldn't have made a significant impact? Even moreso because you KNOW Richt's game plan was to control the game on the ground and the injury clearly changed that (DUH)?
And yeah, your turf is shite. Pretty sure every non-Vol on the board would agree with that.

Yeah, and Chubb's injury had nothing to do with the turf. It was from spinning after contact. At least, that's what anyone who looks at the video would determine.

And you still had Sony Michel and Keith Marshall even after the loss of Chubb. Georgia had the deepest stable of backs in the conference last year, or so I thought.
I'm still not sure what this has to do with Josh Dobbs putting up 450 yards of offense and 5 touchdowns on your defense tho.

I think every Tennessee fan would agree with that as well. I wasn't aware that Neyland's turf gives VOLS some sort of advantage but please continue
