You should. The biggest reason he didn't start ahead of Hurts was poor decision making. Hurts is unusually mature for a freshman. Barnett will likely end up being the better QB of the two, IMHO.

If he was committed to USC at one point, it was far far before I started following his commitment. Oregon was big on him as well.

He was never committed to USC. That was the big knock on him coming out of high school is that none of the California schools really wanted him.

How will Alabama and LSU fans feel when Kiffin ends up at LSU and Blake Barnett starts his first game in Oct?

LSU fans would proclaim Blake as the next coming of Bert Jones.

He might be good, he might be terrible. Anyone saying he's a stud or he sucks is just guessing. I have a hard time seeing him being better than Hurts, though.

I also think BB set out this fall so did not use any of his eligibility up. So should have 3 years left wherever he goes.

Can't blame him for not wanting to sit on the bench his entire career.

He was committed to USC until they fired Kiffin. Then when Lane became a consultant here, Blake committed.

Kiffin was never hired by Alabama as a consultant. He did visit during December, 2013 and did some consulting, but he wasn't hired on staff. He was hired as OC the following month, in January, 2014.

Blake Barnett decommitted from Notre Dame, not USC, in June, 2014, and committed to Alabama at that time.

As it stands, there is much, much more evidence that this statement is false.

What say ye?

You're scared as f*ck of LSU's possibilities.

All that Bama tough talk. Why so much concern with a declining program like LSU?

Yes, or three years minus three or four games supposedly.

Give me a fricking break. I bet you thought Greg McElroy was a good QB and supported Philip Sims over AJ McCarron as well.

QB with poor decision making skills going up against a Bama defense. On top of that Saban knows how to exploit both Kiffin and Barnett and its Saban. Minimum 3 picks in the first half before he quits, wasn't he throwing 3-4 picks a game against the second team Bama D in the spring game and all the scrimmages? Just because he was 5 star does not mean he is good. Second half would just be a scrimmage.

It'll be tense among some Bama fans for as long as Hurts is the quarterback. There's a fairly vocal group that will never accept that he was a better option than Barnett. I could speculate as to why this is the case, but there's really no point.

Funky and about 5 others are on the Hurts Heisman Campaign. They get angry at any suggestion that he needs work or that any other Bama QB might have talent too.

I doubt you can link to any comments stating that. I think we all agreed he deserved to be the starter. Some of us also think he has/had plenty of room for improvement. Any mention of him not passing well has been met with ridiculous arguments to the contrary.

That said, he seems to be improving his passing.

I do not remember him but have read he was one of the best passers ever. Unfortunate everyone was running the ball every play.
