Saban has half as many National Titles as another Bama coach. I believe he is appreciated but Bama has a history of winning so this is not exactly anything new.

Bama had all those coaches and still won four National Titles since Coach Bryant. I'm more than happy with that. I'm a big picture kind of guy. I realize teams are not going to be great every ;year, but in relation to other programs Bama is among the best. I'm very happy with that.

From Bear;s last year to Saban's first year, ya'll were outside the top 25 in Win %, bottom of the Big 6 in SEC championships, had a stretch of over a decade with a losing record and losing records against both your rivals.

Can't be great all the time but can be great more than most programs

Sure, that was a pretty bad stretch. Why does it matter? I would not think to take the time to review any similar period for Auburn because, frankly, it doesn't interest me. Why is this interesting to you now? You are still measuring Auburn's success by comparison to Alabama, and you select 1997-2006 as a valid comp? Pathetic.

All that really matters in an empire in the end is its legacy over the long stretch of history. Ours is the best legacy of all, by any standard, national championships, SEC championships, you name it. That's more than enough for Alabama fans. You would trade Auburn's two NCs and all its SEC championships for Alabama's, yes?

Did they ever go winless in the SEC during that stretch?

Well they had to vacate all of their wins in 05, does that count?

Edit: 06 as well.

?

I'm a LSU fan, I wouldn't trade the P&G for anything, the question really isn't comprehensible to me. As far as accomplishment LSU is almost always good at either basketball, baseball, football or some combination of the three. We really don't have many down years.

The was because of the memories brought back by OP of living in Mobile for 10 years.

You mean Alabama doesn't go 12-0 and win the SEC and national title every season?

Wow, we must really suck.

The whole point of the thread was a reminder that you don't stay at the mountaintop forever. Some Bama fans forget that they weren't even near the fricking mountain till Saban came. Y'all are an elite program and overall have more history than AU. But stop trying to play high and mighty when everyone not old enough to be going through a midlife crisis has seen AU have a better overall stretch than Alabama.

This thread will be repeated if Tennessee ever gets off Big 6 probation and will inevitably act the same way.

It isn't a Bama specific thing but an arrogant fanbase thing

Tennessee is the only other top 15 program that had a losing record in a 10 year stretch since 1980.
