Fine, I won't argue with you about it. Just realize that firing him equates to starting over. I'm not sure that will make the fan base any happier, especially if the new guy brings in a new offensive and defensive scheme.
Coaching changes, while positive in the fans eyes initially, usually are painful for a while. Just be prepared for it.
We deal with it everytime we have a change, including this one.

How old is Kirby Smart, and how long has he been a DC at Bama?

He's 36. Been their DC since '07.

Starting over? I'd be fine with just starting up.

joker is not a bad coach. he's just not a good head coach.

summers is horrible o line coach. he was here before he went to Kentucky. the year after he left Knile davis magically found running holes.

Kind of what I'm talking about, it's all about expectation.
You don't like anything going on with UT right now, and yet they are likely to finish 7-5 (but I get it, they haven't competed well with the better teams in the conference, and you don't want to win a shootout with Troy)

We are 1-9 and lost to Vandy at home 40-0 with 25% attendance. We really are starting up.

Now look at the schools in the SEC with bad defense
62 Auburn

You think AU isn't winning because of "bad defense"?

We ar only giving up a FG more per game than we did two years ago. We won the BCSC that year with a "bad defense".

Maybe its because we averaged scoring three TDs more a game than we gave up.

I'm guessing he was a position coach before that? No HC experience is not what we want. I would say coaching at Bama then going to UK would be reality shock from hell.

Yeah, he's always been a position coach.

He's just waiting until Saban retires.

As I recall at 7-5 we passed over a couple if 8-4 teams because of Couch, not Mumme.

Nail meet hammer!

Folks forget that we got the Outback over better teams. While Couch played a part having the president of Outback as a UK alum did most of the work. The problem is we got the national stage only to be embarrassed by a team that played defense in Penn State. If you want a bowl game to help recruiting you need to win it!

For the fans of UK that follow the other sports (see baseball) the Cats are picking of decent kids by raiding the B1G turf with promises of SEC exposure :

Zac Zellers St. Louis, MO
Matt Reida Russiaville, IN
Walter Wijas Elk Grove Village, IL
Max Kuhn Zionsville, IN
Jeff Boehm Lansing, IL
A.J. Reed Terre Haute, IN
Austin Cousino Dublin, OH
Luke Maile Crestview Hills, KY (Cincinnati suburb)
Jerad Grundy Johnsburg, IL
Sam Mahar Kenosha, WI
Greg Fettes Madison Heights, MI
Tyler Raymond Grove City, OH

If you lock out the nearby schools you cherry pick their best while keeping the option open to go beyond your state footprint. UK should beat Indiana or Virginia most of the time while getting UK football exposure in pockets of B1G and ACC territory. Scheduling Tulane or SMU gets the UK brand in football states like LA and TX which means better opportunity than Eastern or Morehead.

The difference is then you had Cam to cover the difference. Same with the Hogs under Petrino. Go farther back to 2004 and tell me how many games did Auburn need to score more than 2 TD's to win? I am too lazy to look it up but I am guessing nobody put 3 TD's on Auburn that season.

Not sure if it's a good thing or not, but I think you and I are on the same page as to what UK needs. I want a defensive HC with a solid coordinator and a respected OC. Probably too much to ask for.

As I type this, I'm sort of describing Fulmer/Chavis/Cutcliffe (although I doubt Cutcliffe would leave a HC job for a coordinator, unless he doesn't want the HC grind (see Mickie DeMoss).

Earlier I posted some names, who you got that you would like to see that is realistic?

I would make a run at Dykes if I was UK. A lot of names I have read from the UK 247 site are quite unrealistic.

Thx! Finally watched All Access today and it has me excited for the season.

Also, feel UK will probably get the dominos really rolling in the Hiring Draft so it'll be nice to trade info

Now that Barnhart has made the decision, he better pick a winner.

CBS sports list:

Sonny Dykes, head coach, Louisiana Tech: Hottest coach with the least baggage. Kentucky reportedly won't consider Petrino.

Tim DeRuyter, head coach, Fresno State: The 49-year-old has the Bulldogs tied for the Mountain West lead in his first full season as a head coach. DeRuyter came to Fresno from Texas A&M, where he was defensive coordinator.

Ben McAdoo, quarterbacks coach, Green Bay Packers: Maybe a bit young at 35, but McAdoo is an up-and-comer. After six years as the Packers' tight ends coach, he is Aaron Rodgers' position coach this season.

Kliff Kingsbury, offensive coordinator, Texas A&M: The brains behind Johnny Manziel's breakout season.

Willie Taggart, head coach, Western Kentucky: Let's hope Barnhart doesn't look down his nose at the innovative Taggart. Kentucky hiring in-state Western's head coach? It could do a lot worse.

Edit: Didn't know who Tim DeRuyter was, so I looked him up. He was Texas A&M Defensive coordinator last year and coached them to a win in their bowl game, and is in his first season as Coach at Fresno State. They are 7-3 this year (losses to Oregon 42-25, Boise 20-10, and Tulsa 27-26).
Everywhere he was DC, their defense has gotten better. I'm liking him.

Sonny Dykes is the main man.

I bet Cutt and Fulmer names is to throw people off the main target (or the last back up plan if the targets turn us down).

If I had my wish, we need to bring Tuberville back to SEC country and let his duck hunting boots on the sideline do his magic.
