If he learns to complete the forward pass, he will be a nightmare for defenses.

That being said, no quarterback has ever been good enough for a three-peat, so my answer is "NO".

I will pass that along to Jalen. He will probably appreciate knowing that he should hang'em up at seasons end since he has no future in football.

Damn shame though... kid was only 18 years old, and literally had his entire career in front of him.

In my view, each game his inaccuracy throwing the ball downfield becomes more evident. If that threat is removed, defensing Alabama becomes easier.

So .. no ... I think his tendencies have already been shown and teams will react and scheme to them. To be "dual threat" you have to be able to hit the home run.

Losing that d line and cam robinson... I'd be so beyond thrilled if he went 2 out of 3. Just 1 and I'd be a grateful gump. Nothing so far has shown me he can straight up carry a team by himself though. Luckily we don't ask that.

McCarron was one second, and one barner voodoo 109 yard fg return for TD away from the 3 peat. Jus sayen.

AND If the playoff existed that year McCarron would have played for the 3 peat that season even with the kick 6.

Now that I can go back to rooting for Alabama I want to say I've been really impressed by Hurts' growth as the season progresses. He had every reason to fold like a leaf the other night. LSU's defense completely dominated him, but he kept his poise, waited for the defense to tire out and took full advantage of the situation. I respect the hell out of him for that. I see no reason to think he won't have a couple of NC's under him before he graduates, assuming Saban keeps recruiting all 99s for the offensive and defensive lines.

My critique is that he needs to improve his deep ball accuracy and some decision making.

1 second from OT. I don't think we would have won that game in Auburn in OT

Yeah, that pass to Stewart was great evidence of this, for sure.

To think or claim that Hurts won't develop as a passer is absolutely asinine. That opinion is devoid of reason, or cognitive thought.

Hurts has passed the ball fine relative to his age and experience so far. LSU didn't really allow for many passing opportunities downfield, I thought that was pretty obvious. To judge his passing development in a game against a bunch of future NFL corners in a 100,000 person stadium at night is foolish. Not really sure why this is even having to be explained in words.

He has shown that he is "able" to do just that. No being able to hit every single deep pass does not equate to being incapable. It does equate to a true freshman being a raw talent.
Sometimes it takes just one or two long passes to keep the D honest.
To feel otherwise is just straight up delusion, or ignorance, or whatever you want to call it.

He's a well below average passer.

Bama's defense is great though. So, he could be good enough.

It won't surprise me to see Auburn upset Bama. I wouldn't predict it, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

He now has the best QBR of any QB under Saban at Death Valley. The kid has all the intangibles just sometimes is to quick to run first. But he is only 18 and I am no sure any other QB as a true freshman could keep their composure the way he did the other night in the swamp.

This isn't true at all. However, we have one of the most talented receiver groups we have ever had. They are not being utilized as they should, and that is largely due to Jalen's shortcomings in the passing game.

and a lot is due to the type of routes they run/call ... hard to get experience when you're asked to throw only 2 types of passes ... a long ball and a screen ...

If you take into account that he should improve, its possible. But I feel like we win this year and maybe 1 more while he is here. With Ohio St being so young I fully expect them to win one next year or year after next.

I don't know that he'll ever be a great passer, but I'm open to being proven wrong.

Some people are never great 3pt shooters. They can get better, but if they're not pretty good by the end of high school, chances aren't great they're going to turn into Steph Curry. I think throwing a football is similar. Frankly, I'd rather see him struggle with reading the defense or command of the offense. You expect a freshman to struggle with those. Throwing a football is something he's done his whole life. I'm skeptical he's going to turn into Tom Brady with a little more practice.

In that case, I'd say slow your roll and let's see if Bama can win it this year before thinking about 2017.

well, he would be a sophmore when 3peat, so yes? That would mean hes good as a true freshman for us to repeat
