How long before ESPN overthrows this idea?

Isn't this requirement just going to give sec ads less leverage in scheduling these games now that the other conferences know the sec really needs the games?

It's hard enough setting legit home and homes as it is with the growth of the neutral site kickoff stuff.

All that is going to happen is the good SEC Teams will schedule the lousy teams from the power conferences. The good teams from the power conferences do not want to play the power teams in the SEC either. One loss by one of those teams will knock them out of the 4 team playoff. This plan is a joke.

All to protect a defunct rivalry that was never very good to begin with.

Interesting. I'd love to get some neutral site games going against some other good teams with name recognition. And if by some chance some teams could take their OOC game in the middle of the season rather then the end it'd be great football all season.

Just gotta hope we don't go against the Wazzous, Kansas's, and Purdues of the country

Just like they did after setting up a game with Oklahoma State?

They should've made it a 9-game SEC schedule AND require the one major opponent.

As much as the big4 do deserve some blame for this, the cripple fights that help 2 out of uk/vandy/msu/om get bowl eligible are just as responsible.

It was 1 year out of 5, and Stricklin apologized to the fan base for it

No one gives a shite about ut-ua except it and ua fans. People at least recognize AU and UGA as a good game but not as a rivalry. Thanks for ruining the conference though.

Great. So it will be at least a decade before you get to play some teams from the other division. Gotta love progress.

Good for fans, bad for the league. The SEC will try to push for two teams in the 4 team playoff. Would never happen with that model and some years the SEC could be totally left out.

If you ask random people around the country to name the top rivalry games, TSIO wouldn't even make the list.

SC/UCLA
Ohio St/Michigan
Red River Rivalry
Bedlam
Iron Bowl
Oregon/Oregon St.
Apple Cup

No, those schools just respect tradition. You should recognize this.

Well they can kiss that plan goodbye after this. The SEC deserves every bit of ridicule it will get for this move while the other conferences step up.

Like I give a shite about what other fans think. I meant that UA/UT isn't the only reason we still have a permanent opponent. It also lies with AU/UGA and the weaker schools like Vandy and Kentucky and probably Ole Miss and State.
