would OOC rivals count for that one major game? like UF plays FSU, USCe plays Clemson, etc

Yup. UGA/UF/USC/& UK don't change while the rest do.

Tennessee released a statement.

quote:

"The announcement from our conference office regarding future football scheduling assures that the Tennessee-Alabama game, one of college football's most historic rivalries, will continue on an annual basis moving forward. Chancellor Cheek and I have strongly and consistently advocated that this rivalry be preserved regardless of any other outcomes resulting from conversations about football scheduling."

Texas A&M fans in panic mode right now

"What? You mean we can't play 4 home games against the likes of Sam Houston State, Lamar, Rice, and UTEP? But those games we really get to flex our muscle!"

Kinda, I guess. Alabama already plays at least one big OOC game every year.

What'd we ever do to piss off a Nebraska fan?

Why game 9?

"In addition, at least one opponent from the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten or Pac-12 must be scheduled by each SEC school on an annual basis beginning in 2016, with assistance from the conference office."

Therefore, Game 9.

Check the long-term, future games schedule.
We're more than fine.
Some very "major" teams.
But thanks for responding to the bat signal so quickly.

They just announced that they aren't changing anything and couldn't even announce the actual rotation?

The handling of the schedule since the expansion of the conference has been an embarassment.

Hooray for the sece and secw. Two separate conferences from now on apparently.

They should've made it a 9-game SEC schedule AND require the one major opponent. An eight game conference schedule with 14 teams and one permanent cross-division game is fricking stupid.
