With your head coach, losing Kirby Smart is no problem.

Saban not a fan of his assistants taking another job laterally

Based on what?

I cannot make any good argument for him leaving Bama for a lateral position. Especially to play against Saban and with less talent on D....that will be a head scratcher if true.

This. Saban will just reload with another outstanding up-and-coming coach that wants to win championships.

A lateral move isn't smart for Smart. Coordinator? Head Coach? Sure. Same job with a lesser program.... no.

Been floating around for a while, but the only printed report I've seen was Smart saying he was coming back to Bama on 1/03. Lateral move at best though and that's what Saban was talking about in one of his pressers the other day.

I told Capestone he would be getting a DC job before a HC .

Fool didn't listen.

With Saban being such a great defensive coach, I always thought of Muschamp as being sort of an assistant dc at LSU. Maybe Smart needs to get out from under Saban to really prove what he can do. If that is the case, I can understand.

Doesn't matter how much money.... Smart to Georgia is a death sentence for his coaching career.

Meh, let him go and join the sinking ship. We can get better.

who would blame him?... saban keeps his assistants pretty tight lipped. The first time I'd heard either McElwain or Smart speak was this week at media days.

BTW, after hearing McElwain speak, I can see why he hasn't moved on.... he comes across as a bit of a retard (granted, he's a hell of a coordinator).

I've been saying it for 3 months...and was told how stupid I was by my fellow Bama fans. Its the "Smart" move for him to make. As long as he is at Alabama all the credit for a strong D will go to Saban. At Georgia it will be Smart's credit or his blame, and he'll be at his alma mater.

It's an obvious move.

Surely not. Richt is a pretty young guy for that.

He just won the Broyle's award for the Nation's best assistant coach. I don't' agree with your assessment.
