If being on probation and firing your coach isn't bad enough - they will have to pay him 10 million.
If Chiz is found to have been complicit in any violation, I am sure that there is a clause that will allow Auburn to fire him without paying the buyout.

The buyout is essentially 3.5 million. He won a national championship, so he isn't getting fired in the next two years unless he does something that would allow AU to fire him without paying the buyout.

If/when the letter comes from NCAA, Chizik will be fired. Period.

Just in the first year though, right? They buyout decreases each year is the way I read it, which makes it just window dressing.

Comes across as Jacobs and AU trying to convince the world that Chizik is a top-tier coach, which he is not.

That's not the way these contracts work. There are all kinds of clauses in the contract that allow a school to fire a coach without paying the buyout. Usually being involved in major infractions, criminal activity, etc. are included in those clauses.

Chiz's buyout is only 10 million this year and decreases to 3.5 in two years.

Not suspending someone's pay while they are under investigation doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me. What if they are innocent?

I'm sure (hope) there is a clause in the contract dealing with actual NCAA violations/probation that would seriously impact the coach financially. I'm sure Finebum will go into detail on those......

Who do you call a top tier coach then? The man went 14-0 in his second season in the SEfreakingC.

Or are you just one of the many gumps that can't get off saban's nut sack?

Stoops
Saban

Chiz is a good coach, don't get me wrong. One season doesn't cement his legacy however. Do it over a 5-10 year period, and I'll change my stance.

That's fair. I don't disagree with it. He did a great job last year (really the last 2 years), but he still has to do it over time to earn the status has a great coach.

There is a major difference between being investigated and having LOI sent. Once the letter is sent, you are guilty. I can't recall a school getting LOI and then being proclaimed innocent.

If Chizik is implicated, most likely AU and Chiz would negotiate some type of deal instead of going through all the embarassing legal wrangling WVU & RR went through. Especially since AU would be looking at hefy discipline at the same time.

Cigar is one stupid sob, anybody with a brain knows that record had little to do with his coaching and a lot to do with a certain assistant...

That's what I'm saying. Surely the contract deals with actual NCAA sanctions/probation? They took the time to address investigation possibilities......

Wrong dumbshit everyone with any kind of football knowledge knows that the sign of a good HC is to surround yourself with the top assistants. Even your mighty midget knows that.

I don't have time to read the whole contract, but I'm sure there has to be something to that effect in there.

If it comes to that, the payout will be decided in court. Take Mike Dubose situation - IIRC there was no evidence tying him directly to a Means payment, but he obviously knew about it. If Dubose had Chiz's contract, he would be forced to sue for his 10 million.

Chiz could also threaten to tell everything he knows about AU. It seems to have worked quite well in the past.

Your obsession and hate for Chiz are humorous. I suspect you made some bold predictions about how bad of a hire it was and just refuse to admit you were wrong.
