When Malzahn goes bye bye we will see what kind of a coach he is,whereas Saban can lose assistants left and right and not miss a beat....

Not suspending someone's pay while they are under investigation doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me

Yeah, I've never heard of a school suspending a coach's pay during an investigation. You think Pete Carroll wasn't cashing fat checks from USC during the Reggie Bush ordeal? You think every damn Alabama coach didn't collect every nickle of his contractual salary during the past 15 years of their probationary reign?

This clause just seems reinforce something that was already standard industry practice, to wit, we're not going to hold your salary in escrow if the NCAA starts snooping around.

Maybe Pearl at UT is an exception. I seem to remember the school hitting him in the pocketbook when his scandal broke. Perhaps Tressel too, although he voluntereed his punishment if I remember correctly. So maybe that's a developing trend - incentivize coaches to be more proactive with compliance matters or risk financial consequences to their pay. On the other hand the allegations at UT and Ohio St stemmed largely from the behavior of those individual coaches so that's obviously a different can of worms.

As someone pointed out, Chiz's contract (see the first paragraph of the ESPN article) still requires that he be in compliance with all NCAA rules. If he personally does anything against the rules, he will be in breach of the contract and will be entitled to nothing.

Of course ESPN didn't bother to elaborate on that detail. I guess they just assumed that all of their readers went to law school. It's not like they were trying to give the misleading impression that Chiz knew the school cheated and was trying to immunize himself from the financial fallout. Right???

What does Chizik being a good coach have to do with Saban? Why the constant comparison little bro?

Seriously, why are you obsessed with hating on Chiz? Was I right about your past bold predictions about him?

Saban has hemorrhaged assistants no? Let's see how he coaches with a competent instate rival and no oversigning.

I'm the dumbfrick now? You obviously have no idea what you're talking about, so you should stop if you don't want to further prove my point.

So, you are saying, statistics are better than winning games?

Chizik: 22-5 @ AU (81.5% win percentage)
Saban: 38-11 @ UA (77.6% win percentage)

But Saban had a better defense last year so he's obviously the better coach.

And I thought all this time, the most important part of coaching football was winning foootball games.

You make a comment about Malzahn being the real coach literally every opportunity you have the chance.

That is lame. You started a thread that was factually inaccurate about our coach's contract. Then you were corrected by AU fans.
