5 out of the last 6 national championships says far and away. What world do you live in?

A world in which 95% of those players are not playing college football anymore, world in which in one of those years only LSU in the West was worth anything ( bama 6-6 I believe ), and a world in which 33% of those coaches no longer have jobs.

We are talking about the 2013 football season , not the instant classics on ESPN.

That's some heavy stuff right there. Wow. So of the 2 divisions, which one has more REALISTIC national title contenders in it? I'll go with the west. Bama and a&m with lsu having an outside shot. The east has georgia...and what?

I truly think only Bama and maybe UGA if our def evolves. But prolly just Bama. But you gotta go undefeated with your schedule. Buckeyes have no competition. So they are probably in. If Oregon, Oklahoma, Clemson runs the table SEC champ with loss is out this year. Bama schedule could really hurt if you slip.

Ok let me ask you this, had georgia won 2 titles in a row. 3 of the last 4 with florida getting the one georgia didn't get, now add to that georgia will enter the 2013 season #1 or #2 on all polls. Would that not make the sec east FAR AND AWAY the best division? Because that is the exact situation bama sits in right now.

If this was the nfl and you kept the majority of your players then yes. But you don't. You lose x number to graduation and draft forever and you add back talent that cannot be evaluated till game 1. College sports us the only level where last year does not matter, it may for initial rankings, but not for what's on the field. The last time you saw your team play , us the last time period.

But besides all that . Every " expert " projects the top 6 teams in the Sec are UGA, BAMA, SCAR, UF, TAMU, LSU in some order. All in the top 15. With BAMA at the top of those 6 and LSU at the bottom. How more balanced do you want. The rest doesn't matter yet and no one knows who's gonna be this years TAMU, remeber everyone thought they were garbage this time last year, it was still all about ARKY at this point. Just like you can't say someone will lead the league in passing next year when thier QB and 3 relievers are gone, you can't say the West is better than the East, because on paper it just doesn't look that way

I don't know what else to say lol. I guess if bama wins a THIRD CONSECUTIVE TITLE and 4 in 5 years maybe that will be enough in your world to say that the west is far better than the east.

This. And the West and East went 7-7 against each other. Much better than the past two years. The West is the best division in cfb, but the gap is closing.

We fixing to kick that gap wide open jack. Bama has been the shits the past four years...except for 2010 (when preseason I warned folks that USC would beat them in Columbia in a revenge match). The Gators were tearing it up from 2006-09 with the 09 SECCG being the end of the era and Tebow.

Look out...we are nastier and tougher than a five dollar steak now...UGA, USC & UF have had very good teams lately and even Vandy is talking smack.
I will predict right now we or USC will be in Hotlanta the first week of December (baring bad injuries of course) and if our nasty defense gets ahold of AJ....his momma wont like what she'll see.

Leaving UGA out of it because we will beat them this year...and bookmark it deep rigger.

Uh. How did I dodge it? I think I fully explained why I don't think you can claim the West is better than the East for 2013. That was the OP's ? Not who has been the best the last 4 -5 seasons!

...in case you don't understand , I would feel the same way if it was reversed, your argument is always last year, last time, last season.. That does not matter

But to further evaluate the best 3 teams in the west, I see these flaws.

BAMA - O line, not that their not talented, but how will their chemistry be, AJ has been kept clean for 2 years, I question his mental make up if he gets hit a lot to begin the season.

TAMU - I think they are making it too much about JM, the losses on defense will hurt plus Kingsbury gone, their MO last year was run out to a lead in big games and hold on for dear life in the 4 th qtr, I think they will have to score a ton to win as many games as last year. Thinking min 3 losses.

LSU - I think they have a fatal flaw since 2011 title game, It appears the belief that the Hats 4th qtr magic/luck isn't there, maybe there isn't a belief anymore that no matter what they will find a way isn't there , in the fans, the players, I don't know . Just seems the bayou voodo is gone. I definitely think they are trending down.

Either way, even if TAMU , does lose like I think they might this year, they are on the way up big time. I think by 2014. It will be all about BAMA and TAMU in the west.

As far as the east vs west thing. It's been 5 years, the worm maybe hasn't turned, but he's at a stop sign and is trying to decide which way to go.

Until bama is knocked off its perch atop cfb, the west is easily the best division. /thread

When we have bowl representatives lose to Northwestern by two TDs, it is thrown in to doubt, yes.

This was Northwestern's 6th bowl game in a row. Has aTm been to 6 in a row? You may have but I honestly don't give a shite. This isn't the Northwestern of the 90's

LMAO, you lost to the Steve Urkel of the B1G and are trying to defend it.

So if Bama goes 14-0 but LSU, A&M, Arky, Auburn, OM, and State all go 4-8 the West is still the undisputed cream of the crop? /yourdumbassargument

Wasn't TAMU riding a pretty long stretch of losing their bowl games before this year?

Agreed. After Bama, A&M, and Ole Miss, things look mighty grim.

In 2011, Texas A&M beat Big 10 powerhouse Northwestern 33-22.
