CFB would be in a better place if teams of that caliber were competing for national championships instead of the Auburns and Oregons of the world.

This is so fricking stupid that I felt it needed to be pointed out. Holy shite.

I couldn't care less who wins.
But here's hoping both fan-bases enjoy themselves.

I'm pulling for Auburn. No justification provided and none warranted. Go SEC, and screw anybody who says otherwise.

How is it fricking stupid? College Football is in a better place when traditional powers like Texas, Nebraska, Michigan, USC, Tennessee and Penn State are strong. You can even throw Miami and Florida in there as well. Right now, all of those programs are struggling and it's bad for college football. The quality is terrible and interest is down.

The short term memory on this board is astounding. No one wanted Alabama to win the NC last year. I don't know why it bothers yall so much though. It won't effect the outcome.

IDC really.

A good game would be great. I'd rather not see a blowout

Are you serious Clark?

Just because the "traditional" programs are struggling right now doesn't mean the football is any worse. It just means the traditional powers suck right now. All the teams you named fricked themselves BTW.

Just because YOUR interest is down doesn't mean that interest in college football as a whole is down. I'll wager the ratings will be as good as last year's shitshow that Bama and Notre Dame put on.

Miami and Florida were at different points the Oregon of their day. They were the new kids on the block.

Maybe in 30 years Bench McElroy Jr will be saying CFB is better when traditional powers like Oregon and LSU are on top.

Change is inevitable. It's only "better" because of your jaded nostalgia.

Exactly. CFB popularity is at an all time high right now, and getting bigger every year.

And the playoff next year is going to be a ratings bonanza I bet.

I'll make another point. The caliber of coaches in CFB has dropped dramatically. In the mid '90s, CFB was loaded with great coaches like Tom Osborne, Steve Spurrier, Bobby Bowden, Lou Holtz, Joe Paterno and many more. There are two coaches of that caliber right now: Nick Saban and Urban Meyer. Chip Kelly could have been of that caliber. He's gone. Pete Carroll was in that league. He's gone. Jim Harbaugh could have gone down as one of the greatest CFB coaches of all-time. He left. Now, you have failed NFL coaches like Jim Mora as one of the "hot coaches" in CFB. A coach like Jim Mora would have been an afterthought in the '90s. Nobody would have paid much attention to him. That's the way CFB is nowadays.

I can't decide I don't like Auburn but I would love to rub a SEC win in the faces of the FSU fans at work.

CFB sucks now, IMO, because there are so few great defensive coaches. No one focuses on defense anymore. Or maybe the great offensive-minded coaches of this generation really are just that brilliant. Either way the balance of the game has been thrown off and it's taken away some of the normal, typical suspense and excitement of driving for touchdowns in a lot of games. That my biggest gripe with CFB right now.
