Well, you do know that perception still plays a huge part in college football. With the playoff by committee, the importance of this aspect will only be exacerbated. It is actually in our best interest to constantly remind everyone that we are much, much better than you and that our conference is much, much tougher than yours.

And that bothers you. It's not that you don't get it. Hell I don't fully get it. Why does it bother you so much though?

I normally pull for any SEC team playing OOC opponents but I can't bring myself to pull for Auburn. Here's hoping Auburn's luck runs out against FSU.

Because college football used to be different. It's about rivalries.

This conference uber-alles is a new bogus phenomenon.

Conferences are just business arrangements. It means nothing.

Teams win. The idea of everyone else in the conference boot-strapping pride and puffing out their chest because Bama wins is pathetic. You didn't win shite. What? You get credit because of geography and a business arrangement?

Conferences don't win anything. If Auburn wins, they are the champs...not the SEC.

And it should rankle their rivals. Not be celebrated. It's asinine and is an affront to what CFB is all about.

College football should be uniting. Not divisive. Conference uber-alles creates imaginary foes and promotes divisiveness and takes away from the school that won.

It's about schools - not geography.

There is a thing called southern culture that encompasses every aspect of our lives, what we eat, how we talk, our politics, our religion, fricking everything.

Now there may be such a thing as Midwestern culture or west coast culture but it is nowhere near as distinctive and formative to identity as southern culture. And Southerners are one of the few groups that are still completely fair game for belittlement and mockery in our country's popular culture.

The South kicks the country's arse in a lot of things, and one of them happens to be our country's biggest sport. Our beaches are better too. DWI

The BCS began 15 years ago actually.

I'm pulling for FSU because they're the superior team. I might be the only SEC fan on this board who really liked watching Pete Carroll's USC teams play. I also didn't mind Urban Meyer's Florida teams either. I love watching great teams play. CFB would be in a better place if teams of that caliber were competing for national championships instead of the Auburns and Oregons of the world.

Some truths some fallacies in your post..

quote:

Go tell that to Slive, and even the smaller Hoops and Baseball schools in the SEC that don't fair well on the Gridiron..yet cash superfat CBS and ESPN tv rights paychecks..

Ask Mizzou and ATM if they agree with your comments, when cashing an SEC shares check vs Big-12 paycheck.

quote:

And it should rankle their rivals. Not be celebrated

It greatly rankles the rest, but it is also celebrated, as the SEC level of play has created a brand of ball in-house. That few outside of it can compete and/or best in the BCSCG. Thus, the hope that come next year, whomever of the SEC's 14 is crowned king..heads into the BCSCG with an air or confidence/swag that they are well capable of being Champeen.

The SEC doing well has benefitted Kentucky directly in recruiting. Stoops is able to go into places like Ohio and sell playing in the SEC, the best conference in the country, as one of his angles despite Kentucky being down.

And quite frankly, the fact that it bothers non-SEC people so damn bad I hope this conference kicks arse. In everything.

I don't care who wins, rather Auburn win but ultimately it really doesn't matter much to me.

It's kind of a win/win either way.

If AU was playing a media darling like tOSU, Notre Dame, or USC, I'd probably pull for AU. But I'm ok w/ FSU winning this one. I was raised about 36 miles north of Tallahassee, about 15 from Leon County. There's a lot of history between FSU and my hometown.

Yes, us too but in Texas. The SEC brand is a huge help.
