That's why Duke - UNC is considered probably the greatest rivalry in the country. Because they battle in so many sports.

We hate each other more. It's a bigger part of our lives, a 365-day argument unlike any other

This. I have family in central Georgia. It seems in the area where my sister and her husband live, there are actually more Auburn fans than UGA or Tech. I am actually an avid college football follower, and I've seen how the Northerners have a strong dislike for one another's team. Northern and Western Ohio are actually more Michigan fans, in cities like Toledo and Sandusky (home of Cedar Point). If you Southerners ever have something bad to say about Ohioans, I strongly suggest you visit a park called Cedar Point. Place has about 23 roller coasters and it is a lot of fun. Also, look up Marblehead and Middle Bass Island in the Summer. You'd think you were in the Florida Keys. But I digress. Alabama and Auburn have a much more deep-seeded hatred IMHO. OSU fans might tea bag a passed out Michigan fan, slash his tires, make out with UM guy's girlfriend or break his car windshield. In the South, people's lives are on the line.

Nah, baseball baw. You agreed one sport rivalries don't make the cut. That's patently absurd.

Correct

and while most AU and UA fans will act as though it's not just about football, it's just about football.

No, no it's not. If Alabama fans could pick one game for their wheelchair basketball team to win it would be the iron roll. Same goes for auburn.

I haven't attempted to argue that Duke UNC is a bigger rivalry the the IB, baw. Take that up with someone else.

All I said is that his premise was dumb. Sorry you agreed with him, baw.

I didn't agree with him. I just thought it was a funny comment by you.

I do agree that OSU/UM is a bigger rivalry, though. I don't think it's really close either.

To me though, rivalries aren't made for only one sport. If you have to point to a particular sport for your rivalry, it just doesn't make the cut for me.

Correct

Ok. Good talk.

Was he responding to me saying that after tOSU-UM there are multiple rivalries who can make Top 5 claims?

I just think there is a clear #1, but after that is debatable. Also, IMO, one sport does not a rivalry make.

Not sure where he got the UNC-Duke over Bama-Auburn sentiment?

tOSU / Mich is the bigger game by far.
If you live in Bama, UA v AU is the biggest thing in the world.
But, then again, you live in Alabama.

I was confused as to what you were referencing. I absolutely agree that, for college, it shouldn't be revolved around 1 sport.
