Being a SECe kind of guy, I was always under the impression that it was. Seems like they'd always show some old footage of Billy Cannon or some other old stuff when the two played.

But I always see commenters saying LSU has no rivalry games.

It is but the egg bowl is still “bigger”

Lsu has no rival that considers them their ultimate rival.

Is that some kind of badge of honor for LSU fans? Saying you have no rival, I see it mentioned a lot but i always thought Florida was considered a rival

LSU likes to claim that they aren't a rival but when we beat them, they sure treat it like one.

Yeah, it used to have that marquee flavor to it but you had to go back to Johnny Vaught to get an Ole Miss football team with a national pulse. Not that the water boys were setting the world on fire through the 20th century, they weren't as bad as the black bears.

It always has been, when I was growing up in Louisiana it was considered a big rivalry, right up there with the egg bowl. Most of my family and friends in the area would say it is. Lately over the last 15 years as LSU has become more of a power and Ole Miss has struggled, it has become less competitive and younger LSU fans probably have transitioned to thinking that Alabama or Florida are the primary rivalries.

Good thing that doesn't happen very often. I consider Ole Miss a rival but as said above the more recent powerhouses of alabama and florida get most of the attention from the younger fans.

People > 50, it is a Rival for most of that subset of fans, < 50 not so much and for those < 40 very little.

No it’s the truth you’re missing the point. We have many rivals but nobody considers us their main rival

For Ole Miss it has dropped as well, it seems that Arkansas has surpassed LSU in the Ole Miss rivalry mindset.

Rivalry fizzles when one team dominates the other for long periods of time. See Tennessee Alabama.

debatable.

Most Ole Miss fans believe the following....

We want to beat LSU the most.
We want to lose to MSU the least.

...if that makes sense.

Yes,more so "historically." Ole Miss-LSU was the biggest rivalry in the SEC in the late 1950's and 1960s.

No shade to Ole Miss but they just haven't been good enough on a national level lately to make this a big rivalry type game year in and year out for the younger fans.

The one exception that I can think of is in 2014 when 7-0 #3 Ole Miss came to Death Valley and lost by 3 points.

This is actually really accurate. And yes its backwards and doesn't make a ton of sense.
