I don't even think he's the best DB in their own secondary. I think Lester and Kirkpatrick are better, Barron is massively overrated, and Lester is overshadowed by him.

FWIW, Jayron Hosley is the best DB in college football IMO

I definitely think they have the best secondary. LSU isn't that far behind though

Lsu's secondary is super fast and not afraid to hit. granted I am homer but I don't think I am far off.

I think Bama is the easy pick for the media. I guess they have fewer question marks than the other West teams. Of course that means nothing. How many times has the media been right?

It is due to both! Bama's hardest games are at home with the exceptions of MSU, Fla and Barn. Saban's recruiting over the past years has this team stack with talent.

We may not win it all but with the above areas in our favor I do like our chances

Of course Alabama will be a good team.

And just like with LSU, an awful lot will depend on their QB play this season.

Ain't nothing certain, guys.

I'll take the Bama-LSU winner and give you the other 11 teams in a bet who wins the SEC

This.

The spirit of the Bear messes with people. Learn to deal with it because that's just the way it is.

Since you aren't flaming I will give this a try. First I don't think Bama is significantly better than LSU or ARK. I think on paper we are a little better than ARK and a push with LSU but having them both at home, like you said, gives us the edge IF the defense lives up to expectations. It helps to have a RB like Trent and a talented and experienced OL but it is the defense that will carry this Tide team to the SEC game if it makes it.

Lester's the massively overrated one. Barron's very good. Kirkpatrick has a ton of talent. If Menzie could stay healthy, Lester would be far and away the worst player in Alabama's secondary. I don't get the hype with this guy at all. He's a really good ballhawk. That's it. He reminds me a lot of a player by the name of Will Demps when he was with the Ravens. He was able to get a ton of interceptions due to the overwhelming talent around him forcing mistakes by the opposing QB. Lester has become the most overrated player on Alabama's team by a mile.

The concern for Bama is the QB situation. If AJ or Sims end up top 4 qb in the SEC and consistent than Bama will roll through their season

I almost agree with you bench. I think Lester is better than you think he is but not near as good as the hype he's receiving. On Barron, I think he's a pretty damn good safety but I have to wonder what he'd have looked like as a 4-3 OLB.

Bama would be favored against the Saints according to many Tide fans.

Naw, that's pretty much how we acted last year at this time. It's the media propping us up this year.

I agree, back in 2009, we all talked about GC, and how had such a great hs record in highschool, and he would be the greatest quarterback in Alabama's history. Now we have two qb's, both are capable but unproven, they are young, but we have a strong OL and a nasty defense, should be interesting. We'll see how the ball bounces, the only intangible in this game.
