Considering our record last year with abortion level QB play, id say adequate gives us a shot to contend for a playoff spot.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

ESPN rated LSU's defensive line as the 8th best in the SEC earlier this year and that might be generous. You don't have a single proven player
Damn Phan - you were torching UGA yesterday and now you got the flame heating up for LSU today?

You finished last year w/ 2118 yards, 17 td's, and 9 int's. What you are proposing is a modest increase in yards, no increase in td's, and a very small decrease in int's. Therefor, you improvement on offense should also be very modest and would totally be negated by bringing in a new defensive coordinator and having most of the west getting better. Net gain = 0.

If a miracle happened and they have a respectable passing game during the 2015 season, then maybe 10-2 or 9-3.

IF the QB can throw for 2500 yds and 17-18 TDs and limit TO's, how do you see this LSU team doing?

I see why the "IF" was capitalized. Since that would be 400 more yards than they threw for last year and the same number of TDs. It would be pretty much the same year Mett had in '12 with a few more TDs thrown in.

I would say that you could be looking at 8-9 wins with those numbers. It doesn't hurt that you have such a weak OOC schedule this year.

You call it flame. I call it a fact. I find it comical that most LSU posters on this site think they have such an awesome defense returning when they gave up 25 or 30 points in at least half their games against legitimate opponents.

After reading several of the op's threads both last year and this year, I have no doubt that he literally loses sleep over preseason polls and gets angry enough to break shite over LSU not being highly ranked in such polls

"If LSU QB play is adequate" is such a ridiculous hypothetical, why would we even entertain the idea? On top of that Kevin Steele is the DC. Lolz.

This is such a dumb fricking question. If they have good QB play, they'll be good. If they don't, they'll be mediocre. We all know this. Everyone knows this. Are you just looking for validation or something? Call your mom.

I know what I think and I hardly need validation from the SEC Rant. Take your tired comebacks elsewhere.

I want to know what the Rant thinks, hence the question. I am trying to figure out if the anti-LSU bias is actually dependent upon how LSU does or if it is just built in.

For A&M fans, they are convinced that LSU will never win more than 7 games again no matter what happens.

YOU actually seem able to think for yourself on some level, but you lost points for completely misjudging why I was asking the question.

What you think I do about where LSU is ranked says a lot more about you than it does about me. Sounds like that is what you do.

Anywhere from 8-4 to 11-1. I think 10-2 is a good pick.

Says the guy that posted a preseason defensive line ranking.

Sweet downvote

I wouldn't mind a replay of the 'adequate' QB play of 2011 (along with the monstrous defense and special teams), but with one tiny difference in the last game...

2500 yards in 12 games is 200 yards passing per game. Add that to the running game, which should be over 200 ypg and LSU has an adequate offense.

It was far from adequate last year.

That is pretty much how I see it too.

The purpose of this thread was to see what the SEC Rant thought if numbers were adequate. Congratulate yourself on being an objective football fan.

Our D - line will be one of the biggest improvements from last year.

O will make a huge difference here
