re: IF LSU QB play is adequate this year, how do you see LSU doing?

Should be 192 yds per game. Even I think you go to a bowl. Last year you had 162 per game. Will one more pass completion per game make that much of a difference?
Less 50 yard desperation bombs and 5-6 more 10 yard completions will make an enormous difference.

A good season. How much of a difference without Chief does the defense change?

I would argue LSU tops out at 9 wins with loses to Arkansas, Auburn, and Alabama. I have no faith in the coaching staff to develop these QBs, and if Jennings starts, I'm downgrading that to 8 wins. I also think that the lack of depth at LB will hurt them a lot.

LSU lost 2 LBs off of the 2 deep, one starter and one 2nd string.
Kendall Beckwith
Lamar Louis
Deion Jones
Duke Riley
Ronnie Feist
All have been in the program for at least 3 years.
Clifton Garrett & Donnie Alexander are both talented sophomores.
Considering LSU plays with 2 LB's more often than not the depth is fine. Steele will run some 3-4 this year, but don't expect to see it implemented fully for at least another year or two.

There is a different DC, so I wouldn't expect only 2 LBs to be playing more often than not. Like you said, Steele wants to play 3-4 which means he will need to use a lot of LBs. I don't see enough experience here to do that which either means Steele will try it and make the best of the situation or he will coach in a formation that isn't his specialty.

Steele has already said he's not going to change much in 2015 because of how the roster is built. Do you honestly expect him to try and run a 3-4 when LSU hasn't recruited for it at all?
He will continue to run a version of a 4-2-5 until he gets the linemen and LBs necessary.

It's like people totally forgot about this same staff turning Mett into an NFL QB.

Right now it doesn't look like it will be. Neither one of your QB's could complete 60% of their passes during the spring game in which there was zero pressure.
13/20 = 65%
11/17 = 65%

probably, but it's hard to predict finishes like they had against UGA and Bama. In a normal world they finish that season 8-4 and Alabama wins the division. Crazy things happen sometimes, but I wouldn't say that Auburn defied the odds and disproved some long held belief that you can't win championships without a decent defense.
Well of course you would say that because it fits your narrative.
But that's fine, they were lucky. But this idea that teams can't win without defense is an old notion. Offense can win titles too.

Arkansas has beaten LSU back to back.. twice.. in the last 20 years. LSU had Bama beat before the miracle worker intervened. Auburn very well may go in dry
