And lest you blame it all on Florida having a bad year....FSU was 13th in the nation. So, just having the most TV's, or the best year on the field does not guarantee viewership. Shoot, it looks to me like nobody in Florida likes to watch college football.

It makes a huge difference. You do realize those numbers aren't about who is watching in the state, but who is watching the game nationally? Of course the better teams are going to have higher numbers because those games have huge appeal. I would be willing to bet if you found those numbers from pretty much any other year over the last 25, we are at or near the top of college football.

I think the fact that nearly 3.5 million were tuning in to watch a 4-8 team says a lot.

I don't know if this conversation is still actually going on cause I'm not reading all the pages. BUT.

If you didn't split revenue equally from bowls/TV deals then YES the bigger schools LSU, Bama, UGA, and UF would pull away and leave the smaller schools in the dust.

But then instead of having a solid top to bottom conference you would have the B1G where you have a couple of good teams that just crush the other teams every week and is VERY boring football.

What makes the sec special is that on any given weekend most teams can give some of the tops in the conference a run for their money.

And I know others have said it also better quality games leads to more viewers, more viewers lead to night contracts and more money down the road.

I hate how people equate revenue sharing with socialism. It's not effing socialism.

A lot of people don't know what socialism means but they throw the word around because they hear certain people say it.

Mizzou is in that group. SEC gets a lot of money from Mizzou because the state of Missouri have 6 million people and you don't have to split any of the TV money with other major conferences. SEC gets the money from Missouri all to itself. If Missouri State was in a power conference then the SEC wouldn't get the full amount from Missouri.

Hence that's why the B1G snatched up Rutgers...NJ brings in a lot of money, they get all the Jersey money to themselves.

It goes by how many homes in that state have the package, they don't even have to watch it at all. Conferences still make money off that package deal if a team is located in that state. I know with Dish if you order the sports package you get the B1G, LHN,Pac 12,and SEC(August) in that package. So say the KU fans that live in Missouri(KCMO) metro area orders the sports package on Dish then the SEC will make money off those subscribers even if they don't watch 1 minute of the SEC Network. Most people that have cable or Satellite will pay the extra $5-$8 for sports packages.lol.

The fee is by household. It's not by viewers or percentage of households by fan allegiance. It doesn't matter that FL has so many football programs. Even those FSU folks have to pay for the SECN.

You don't split gate revenue, merchandise sales or donations...just media rights and bowl revenue. UF still produces more than a lot of SEC programs.

Keep selling that Aaron Hernandez memorabilia and you guys will be just fine.

If you know anything about trademark law, you'd know it's not that simple, since every Hernandez item requires the inscription "Made possible by Urban Meyer's lack of discipline" and Urban has yet to allow his name to be used.

Nah, should get split evenly. Otherwise you wind up with a Texas Network kind of deal. Big six get richer. Arkansas still sucks.

I agree, the bigger schools are already at more of an advantage than like State or Kentucky (considering most of the views will be football) so if it was to be based on viewership, the big 6 will be ad even more of an advantage
