How old are you?

I have heard as far back as I can remember to describe a person with a simple mind.

I gather what it means, but where is that from?

I have heard it used in the south for ages. Seems you heard a coach use it in football to chew out a laggard in learning plays or how to block.

Have you never heard a coach describe the 3 sizes of linemen in the south?

Nope; never heard it.
We recently moved to W Georgia, but all but a few of the rest of my 40+ years were spent in my hometown of Charleston.
Thank you for that.

Charleston is a nice place, have friends and family living there now. Not sure why you would want to leave there but modern jobs mean more moving about I suppose. If you are a young 40 then enjoy it now as these are the salad days of work and children.
