With such a small number of players in the NFL, you can afford to give them more attention at auburn.

Emotional and physical burn out probably plays a big part in this phenomenon.

This is an interesting angle.

A lot of people said Greg Schiano with the Bucs wore his players down last year and be risks losing the team if things don't go we this year. This is what happened to Saban in the NFL. The players become completely different people once they get in the NFL and have million dollar contract and agents telling them what to do

Regarding the physical aspect, I think we saw this with Lacy this year with the thought being that RB's already have. Short shelf life and Bama RB's come into the league worn down

At least you are provided with fine menswear at both Alabama and the NFL

I have to give credit for a creative argument, though. When your rival has won 3 of the last 4 national championships, you really have to work to come up with something.

Apparently Everyone that has been drafted under Saban.

Maybe the success is too much of an accomplishment that feel like they've made it to the top already.

Never seen so many good college players retire or quit the NFL as early I've wondered the same thing.

Makes you rethink the recruiting rankings all over again.

I want them to do well because I appreciate what they did at Bama...but I really don't have any emotional stake in the NFL. Once they go pro, they go with my blessing but not my interest. I'm a college football fan.

Auburns number of players fell off under Chizik but I'd say guys like Takeo Spikes, Karlos Dansby, Ben Tate (yes, he is better than Mark Ingram), Heath Evans, Carlos Rogers have all had above average careers. I mean we're even looking at King Dunlap having a breakout year if reports from Charger camp are to be believed.

This is the difference between being over-hyped bust and having solid NFL Careers

Interesting.

So kids who play for Saban, then go on to be drafted, sign mega million dollar contracts end up as failures in the NFL?

Millionaires who are failures?

I'd like that gig.

That being said, I present Cam Newton as a counter argument and also point out that of the Manning's, Eli of Ole Miss is the one with two SB rings. Cam and Eli, along with Jay Coutler all played against tough SEC competition which definently makes a difference

Cam's not exactly lighting up the NFL is he?

Not really. It's almost two completely different scenarios.

Considering most of Saban's top guys are just coming out, I would say it is too early to tell.

I see your bait and raise you a Greg McElroy, Brodie Croyle (honk!), John Parker Wilson, and the Patron Saint of Bama NFL Bust QB's Jay Barker

Who are you talking about? Other than Rolando McClain, I don't know who fits this description. And I don't know how he spent his money, I just know he has made some bad decisions lately.
