Just like your school and administration is responsible for ignoring shite like this in order to focus on what really matters to them.... donations!

You're fricking naive as hell if you don't think Missouri puts pressure on students to not report rape. I'm pretty sure staff that actively encourages it gets quietly replaced.

It's a problem with ALL colleges as they're set up to minimize reporting so their safety numbers look better.

I do like how all the fricking Tigers go into knee jerk defense mode of how their university did nothing wrong rather than saying hey... maybe we should do a full investigation because a poor girl was raped and committed suicide... but no, that would require you to actually give a frick about human beings rather than football.

I bet that all of you fricks posting here about how Missouri did nothing wrong were jumping all over FSU and Jameis Winston too.

Then you're a complete fricking idiot.

They will NEVER sue for defamation because in a defamation lawsuit ESPN would get access to their files in the discovery phase.

Why do you think nobody EVER sues in one of these articles? They might threaten.. but they don't actually sue.

For defamation you have to prove that what ESPN said is false while at the same time giving them access to all of your records that probably show it was true.

I guess you got caught up foaming from the mouth to notice some of us said if everything wasn't disclosed about what they knew, heads should roll. Try to wrap this up nice and pretty on your behalf all you want, but you're the one who slung out a broad brush indicting Missouri people and Mizzou fans. You're a fricking troll, just man up.

As noted in Moller's letter, the university asked her parents if they would like an investigation and they declined to respond.

Yeah YOU really are. Mizzou handled the Mike Dixon situation appropriately-BY KICKING HIM OFF THE BASKETBALL TEAM. He was never even officially charged with anything and he was probably the best player on the team at that time.

Just read that part of the response...

quote:

Secondarily, it’s not right – and is possibly defamatory – to run a story that states or implies that the health care providers who treated Sasha did something wrong by not reporting information of her sexual incident to police or campus administrators. Those people have professional and legal obligations of confidentiality and shouldn’t be faulted for abiding by them.

It seems ESPN ran the article, exactly like MU said they were fearful it would be. It's going to be interesting to see their response in the time ahead. I'm also curious, as to if there will be an investigation into the claims, now that they've been alleged.

I thought it was extremely disingenuous of the author to refer to medical healthcare providers at the University Hospital as "officials" as though they had some sort of administrative role in the university reporting structure. Stupid.

Easy to say.. but you don't want an actual investigation.

Frankly this is a hot button issue for me. I work with shite like this every fricking day.

Why don't you tell me how everything is working when over a woman's lifetime she has about a 1 in 2 chance of being sexually assaulted. For men it's smaller but still at least a 1 in 5 chance.

Folks automatically tend to blame the victim in these cases and try to cover shite up because it's uncomfortable to actually investigate and try to determine the truth. They hush everything up rather than put things in the open so they can protect the reputation of the university or other entity. It's a farce.

Here's a suggestion. Instead of trying to protect the reputation of your university, push for full accountability and then go volunteer a few hours with an organization like RAINN.

At some point, Sasha hinted to Greg that she was not keeping her counseling appointments, which was concerning to hear. This prompted Greg to tell Sasha that she needed to focus on getting herself better, both physically and mentally/emotionally, and instructed her to take some time off from training.

I fail to see where the swim coach found out for sure that she had not been keeping her counceling.

he jumped to conclusions and made her take a break from swimming. which in turn sent her mental state down hill. aka coach screwed up

eta: it's also his word trying to cover his arse vs a dead girl's (RIP) word

When did she report the rape again? That's probably the important part. Or are university officials supposed to ask every code filling an antidepressant script if they've been raped?

Stop digging. You've reached bedrock.

The problem is, to the best of my understanding, she reported it to healthcare providers, who cannot report these incidents to law enforcement agencies without the patient's consent because of HIPAA regulations.

Any perpetrator involved in the incident should be investigated, and charged if the evidence warrants it. No one has ever stated otherwise.
