This is a tragedy, and if it comes to fruition that people in charge knew more than that has been stated, heads need to roll.

I think 99+% of the people on here agree but it appears to be a witch hunt and Mizzou is the target instead of the perps.

This had to happen 12 days before National Signing Day?

Dont get me wrong, this is obviously terrible, and I hope it gets resolved accurately. I feel awful for that girl and her family.

I meant, if Mizzou loses recruits and they turn out to be innocent of any wrong doing, it sucks for us.

Even Ironhide thinks you're a moron.

Thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of this young woman.

I posted it before I read the story. I took it down. My apologies, it was definitely in poor taste. I saw "Alleged Assault" on the ESPN head line and was thinking beat up type of assault, not rape

You seem to be implying, if not suggesting, that because Sasha told MU medical personnel about a sexual assault while she was a student, that other MU officials should have been aware and taken some sort of action. That is simply wrong.

It is my understanding that when an adult student, such as Sasha, is seeking treatment from MU medical personnel and informs them about a sexual assault, those medical personnel have duties of privacy and confidentiality to the student under state law, professional rules, and HIPAA. They are not required, or even allowed, to report the sexual assault to law enforcement or campus administrators without the authorization of the student. You previously have mentioned the affirmative obligation of universities to address student sexual assaults. That obligation particularly arises from Title IX. While the U.S. Department of Education interprets Title IX to require most university personnel to report student sexual assaults, that doesn’t apply to information that medical personnel receive in the course of treating patients. Nothing in Title IX sets aside a health care provider’s duty of confidentiality to a patient or otherwise requires or allows university medical personnel to report sexual assault of a student patient without that individual’s authorization.

end of thread, end of witch hunt.

Very sad story but Mizzou's AD did nothing wrong here.

frick ESPN. This is a hack job that paints the story they want instead of the story that really happened.

I'm too lazy to read the article just yet. What on earth does this mean? Is it bad writing or psychobabble?

Hatchet job from ESPN. No officials at MU or in the AD were aware of the incident.

MU has responded with a detailed, documented response.

Nothing to see here.

Mizzou will probably use it as a recruiting tool. Rape whoever you want, we don't care!

Also, Tigers are just shitty people.

sadly that is what popped into my head first. Probably will be a no win situation now for the Tigers. T&P for the swimmer and her family.

This is an awful story. The allegations are quite disturbing. As disgusted as I am, I can never know the pain felt by Sasha or her parents. This story makes me wonder if we, as a society, have failed our children when it comes to teaching them about basic decency, self control, peer pressure, and alcohol abuse.

The alleged perpetrators clearly failed when it comes to all of the above: decency, self control, the ability to say no peer pressure and to stand up for what is right even when pressured to swim with the current, and alcohol abuse.

We need to teach our children to respect each other, to stand up for what is right, and not to abuse alcohol. Unfortunately, we often fail.

On top of that, we need to increase our understanding of mental health problems and how to treat them.

There are zero sola rotors in the case, but most importantly...NO MU OFFICIAL KNEW OF THE INCIDENT UNTIL OVER 1 YEAR AFTER SHE DIED.

I don't get what is so hard to understand about that.

Figured a few low life trolls couldn't resist vomiting all over something as serious as this. Hiding behind a puter and monitor or not, you're still responsible for vile shite you type. Some people have no common decency.

Very true. I understand rival fans nonsense on the matter. I understand a hatchet job towards the University gets more clicks for ESPN.
