IF there is a video, the 3 ex-footballers should be prosecuted but the article is going after Mizzou instead of the perps.

It is a sad situation and unfortunate of course, but seriously what the hell is Mizzou supposed to do here?

Under Title IX law enforced by the U.S. Department of Education, once a school knows or reasonably should know of possible sexual violence it must take immediate and appropriate action to investigate or otherwise determine what happened. The law applies even after the death of an alleged victim. Further, the federal Clery Act requires campus officials with responsibility for student or campus activities to report serious incidents of crime to police for investigation and possible inclusion in campus crime statistics

If she spoke with campus officials and rape counselors, I assume they would have been under obligation to report it. Perhaps I assume wrong. I'm no legal scholar and perhaps someone else could clarify this more.

What happened to the video? Woodland supposedly had a copy but lost it? Does anyone know who had the original and has anyone tried to contact that person?

From the looks of it, nobody in the Athletic Dept was notified or any of it was brought to their attention, until after her death. So I am not insinuating anyone on the football staff did anything wrong. Unless they did not notify LE and they were supposed to, as the Title IX thing stated.

It just seems that others in administrative positions dropped the ball and did little to help or report after they found out. IF that is the case, then I hope those folks are terminated from their positions and more effort is undertaken to educate everyone in their responsibilities. I would also hope, that every University educates their folks to know what to do if anything similar were to happen on their campus.

This had to happen 12 days before National Signing Day?

Dont get me wrong, this is obviously terrible, and I hope it gets resolved accurately. I feel awful for that girl and her family.

I meant, if Mizzou loses recruits and they turn out to be innocent of any wrong doing, it sucks for us.

Way to take out the part where I said this whole situation is just awful. No one deserves that.

Ok cheap shot. It's a crappy situation. Hard to see what the AD did wrong.

I'm sure her suicide was completely unconnected to her having to go to school with these people while an AD admin knew about it and did nothing

This sucks, but you have to look at both sides of it. The girl could have been bat shite crazy and her stories may not have made any sense. You can't go on a witch hunt without something fairly credible to start with. It could go either way here, but it does seem that some of the people she talked to could have been a bit more proactive.

Not saying you are completely wrong, but you should read the story. She wanted to come back to Mizzou and had a history of mental illness that dated back to high school.

I don't think snarky or troll like comments is appropriate in this story, even on the Rant. You're not funny, or even witty. This is a tragedy, and if it comes to fruition that people in charge knew more than that has been stated, heads need to roll. I don't care who it is.
