Same reason Tebow won the Heisman over McFadden.
First player ever to score 20 rushing and 20 passing TD's. Maybe the best college player ever. They talked about it endlessly, I don't know how you missed it.

They're both basically fringe 7th rounders from what I can see. There's not much difference in their "draft stock" - both pretty much just a late round flyer.

The scouts want to see more of Coker. And the game is in Alabama, and Bama has a bigger fanbase.

What exactly makes Coker a better prospect?

This may partially answer your question... Plus Coker is from Mobile and they want to ensure a crowd, bringing Bama players in helps do that.

PHIL SAVAGE
Executive Director

Phil Savage joined the Senior Bowl as its Executive Director in May of 2012 after working in the NFL as a coach, scout and executive for 20 years. As the Director of College Scouting and later as the Director of Player Personnel with the Baltimore Ravens, Savage helped assemble a roster that included 12 Pro Bowlers - and won Super Bowl XXXV. In his four years as General Manager of the Cleveland Browns he drafted or acquired five Pro Bowlers, including OT Joe Thomas and KR Josh Cribbs. He is a graduate of the University of the South - Sewanee and earned his Masters at the University of Alabama.

Savage is also the football color commentator for the Bama Radio Network, who sits along side Eli Gold. So yeah, Bama players get first dibs.

He has the size, the arm, and oddly effective lumbering footwork like a Roethlisberger. I don't think he has the accuracy but there is raw potential in Coker.

The other's biggest claim to fame is throwing a ball to Hunter Henry which Hunter Henry proceeded to lateral back for the biggest play in Arkansas program history.

BA threw 30/43 406yds. 7TD's, 0Int's. against MSU's defense, not that MSU had much of a defense. Coker is not on BA's level.

Measurables. The NFL is obsessed with measurables. Frankly, he isn't anywhere close to pro QB at this juncture, performance-wise. But he has potential just on his measurables. The NFL loves QBs with his body type.

You know Bama had a Heisman winning runningback right?

NFL coaches aren't just gonna look at raw passing stats, otherwise Timmy Chang and Kliff Kingsbury would be GOAT quarterbacks prospects. They understand the entire situation, and evaluate the player on mechanics and other physical attributes by watching him play.

if that mattered where would dak stand- i.e. what is his claim to fame? getting into a fight in panama city and getting his arse handed to him by ole miss in his very last home game. woo hoo, that's a total badass there.

he probably deserved the invite more but the combine and the senior day are when you prove your worth

Essentially, the 20 QB sneaks for TD's was enough to convince a bunch of retards.

Hey now, they were mostly draws and read option keepers.

As evidenced in another thread, this is not the proper way to rate one's worth.

The Senior Bowl has and always will have preference for players from the Mobile area

Right, although the examples you used were both quarterbacks in spread systems that make the reads and passes easier on the quarterback. Both Coker and Allen played in pro style offenses that required them to read defenses and make tougher throws (correct me if I'm wrong on any of this).

Though I haven't watched much of Bama this year outside of him throwing two picks against our shite secondary so I may be biased

Cause coker is 6'5 240, can throw it 70 yards and can run, and has flashed incredible playmaking ability at times, plus grittiness. They want to see him in that setting

no he hasn't he's gotten lucky that he was surrounded by the best talent money can buy, other wise hes not getting an invite from the cfl

Fair enough. We never really had to rely on Coker because our running game was strong. A few occasions late in game we did, and he came through. We're simply a less pass-oriented offense this year.
