There's so many variable with this. For example, 10-2 (losses to UF/Bama) would be alright if we still made it to the SECC. But IMO I think if we lose to UF it would derail the train (maybe slightly, maybe more), then we go on to lose to more than just Bama. That would be a tough to rebound from. The hype train would collapse, people would start questioning Butch, the idiot vocal fans would start calling for his head, etc.

From what I've seen on here the majority of the Vol fans think they are a lock for the playoff, why even suit up and play this fall? Just go ahead and crown their arse.

No ifs, ands, or buts, UT needs to beat Florida this year. If they don't it may never happen again. And if they don't beat Florida, I doubt they are 10-2.

I was exaggerating - but I mean seriously, this is the best roster at UT in at least 10 years, AT LEAST.
And with all the questions for Florida on offense, it seems like now or never to me.

Sorry but there is no way with the schedule we played and all the top teams we beat. No way Oregon gets in over Florida. The polls both had us at #4 and computers had us at #2 in 6 out of 7 polls. No way the voters would have moved us down to #5 below Kansas State. We were firmly above Oregon even though they were ranked ahead of us in both polls.

I for one think this is the year for the vols, not saying they win the sec, but I think they win the east. I think Alabama goes to UT with them being undefeated. I think they finally break the streak against the gators. Hurd is unbelievable. Dobbs will be improved, and their defense should be better. It has to be this year for the vols

Put it this way, if Tennessee loses to UF, the Tennessee-UGA game the next week becomes a must win.
Butch will be in trouble if he loses to inferior UF and UGA teams back to back.

That would effectively take us out of the East race by October 1st unless some crazy schnizz happened. Would be completely unacceptable.

I don't think Butch is in any kind of trouble at all with he contract extension last year and the vols settling lawsuits. They have had to pay too many coaches lately to have an itchy trigger finger.
