Do Alabama fans really want an LSU AD to hire Mullen?

Then why hasn't Mullen been hired by a big time program? If it would be scary seeing him at LSU, it would be scary seeing him at any big program right? Funny how big programs don't see what you see. Sure he's shown his worth developing QBs, but how well has he developed other positions?

Probably because he's been getting paid a shite ton of money - almost $5 MIL per year. That's more than Saban was making for his first several years at Bama, and we caught all kinds of shite for paying him that much.

But I thought that Dan Mullen was a sneaky recruiter that can find diamonds in the rough and is a great player developer? What do you mean you've only lost to 3ish teams in 8 years with less talent? Every year you guys overhype your players and every year you guys credit that hype to the fact that Mullen recruits guys that fit his system and that are actually really good despite their ratings.

Honestly seems like every year you guys have a "good roster that can compete with almost everyone in the SEC" only to crash and melt when LSU/Alabama hand your arse to you.

This is exactly why Mullen hasn't been hired and isn't going to be hired by anyone else. We have taken it out of the equation. Keep in mind he makes $4.8 mill in Starkville, Mississippi were the dollar travels a lot farther than anywhere else that has decent college football. So most schools are looking at having to pay him $6 mill a year to leave just to pay him the same amount he's already making at a school that is never going to fire him. His record vs Alabama and LSU is too ugly right now for any school to justify dropping $6 mill a year on him and he has everything he wants just how he wants it to leave. Plus his wife loves Starkville.

Combine that cash with the fact that he's a hero in Starkville will very few expectations except to be bowl eligible and beat Ole Miss fairly often. That's a pretty sweet gig for anyone.

Anywhere else paying that kind of money is going to expect to be at least competing for conference championships or be fired.

Jimbo has played for one national championship. The same number as Gene Chizik. He's accumulated his record in the weak arse ACC, while Mullen has been in the toughest conference division in college football history. Jimbo has lost 3+ games in half of his seasons at FSU, in a sorry arse conference.

All true, but you're missing some context.

Jimbo and FSU's AD have had rounds about his DC's pay. FSU has yet to spend what Jimbo wants on a top D.C. LSU doesn't have that problem.

I wasn't saying Jimbo's FSU production would be incredible at LSU. I'm saying combined with LSU paying Aranda 1.8 mil at D.C., Jimbo would be wildly successful at LSU. Moreso than he is at Florida State.

Think about it this way...what would have happened in your first game this year if FSU had LSU's D and held you to 10 points? You may have still won, but it would've been a much better game.

FSU's defense wasn't their problem. In fact, they were dominant. Held us to 269 yards of offense and only 13 first downs. They had 3 turnovers on offense, a blocked punt, and a blocked field goal.

Their offense & special teams gave us the ball on their side of the field 5 different times, including twice inside the red zone, and only one out of those 5 resulted in a Bama touchdown. The fact that their defense was able to hold us to 24 points is nothing short of remarkable.

Had Dak Prescott and still lost two in the SEC.

He's a second-tier coach at a second-tier school, coaching a second-tier football program.

Match made in mediocre heaven.

Have you seen the infighting that happened on the tiger rant right after O got the job?

Jimbo is the only candidate that, if he had been hired at LSU, would not have generated any real negative blowback on the rant.

Is this something to brag about? No doubt Alleva would blow it, but I don't understand boasting about that

He interviewed with Penn State and didn't even sniff an offer. And he juist got that raise last year. Prior, he was making 4.2 million, which was in the bottom half of the SEC

I would imagine he'd have been asking for a hefty raise to leave, no?
