I think most people understand that concept just fine.
Apparently not. From the thread:
quote:
Does seem weird that the one entity that makes money for a cash strapped University is the one being threatened to be shut down. And if they are privately funded, why would the governor even think about shutting it down?
quote:Apparently it IS too complicated for some to understand. I'm sorry if that makes you feel insecure.
Stop talking down to everyone else like it's too complicated to understand.

Yes, Jindal had put in place work requirements to receive welfare and JBE got rid of them immediately.

damn, those are some fricked up priorities.
Yes, but unfortunately not surprising, democrats like having a mindless voting bloc.

Damn, I hate to see that in any state. But it's a growing epidemic. Dems want to be the Santa Claus party.
How could it make sense to anyone to invest in welfare queens as opposed to education?

You are dense, man. I made the statement that your governor said your football program was in danger of being shut down. You argued that he did not say that, that he said the University might get shut down. I gave you a direct quote complete with link where he said LSU football was in danger of being shut down and now you want to crawfish away from your statement?
So. One more time. Here is his direct quote:
"That means you can say farewell to college football next fall," Edwards said in the address
Now, if you can't understand that, then my opinion of a LSU education just dropped a whole lot.

LSU has won 4 SEC Titles since 2001. In 2001, 2003, 2007, and 2011. LSU has played in 3 NC games (03,07,11) and won 2 NCs in (03,07).
UGA has won an NC in 1980.
Please don't attempt to act as if UGA's success is even remotely at LSU's level in the last 15 years because it isn't.
Fact be known, if UGA played in the SEC West it wouldn't have had even the level of success it has had because UGA has benefitted from playing in the SEC East. So please stop your posturing especially since UGA is the only SEC Big 6 team to not win a National Title in the last 15 or so years.
Please.
So, what you are saying is that LSU is living on their past just as UGA is. Gotcha. I have no argument with your grasp of understanding.

No, he's just an idiot. Anyone who thinks that the governor is going to shutdown every university in the state if he doesn't get his way on raising taxes is an even bigger idiot. If he was deficient enough to attempt, this he would be recalled. Do we have to discuss the lasting impact of shutting down higher education in a state that ain't exactly knocking it out of the park with education to begin with?

Actually they don't care about taking care of people. They only care about buying their votes with giveaways. Don't get me wrong...the Republicans aren't looking after our best interests, either. All any of them care about is getting elected back into office and they will say or do whatever it takes to get back. Now. I am done trolling and picking at LSU fans today. You guys have a good afternoon, and don't worry. Everybody on this board realizes LSU football is not going anywhere. Most just like to see you get all worked up.
(For what it's worth, everybody else gets worked up over their own programs, too)

Except that he didn't.
What he said was [from your post]:
"That means you can say farewell to college football next fall,"
That's not being "shut down" that suspending play for a season. BUT, his use of the pronoun, "that" refers to what, exactly? IOW, the quote is taken out of context.
But none of that excuses the idiocy you displayed with this:
quote:

It's the offseason, we are ALL either living in the past or waiting until next year.
The questions you have to ask yourself are:
How far past?
...and:
What are we waiting until next year for?

LSU shut down their men's wrestling program in 1985.
No one is suggesting the same happen with their football team
Moreover, it would be penny wise, but pound foolish, to suspend the very revenue producing events that the university so desperately needs.

y'all are arguing over semantics. he didn't say the football program would be shut down. he said athletes being ineligible to play would be a result of the university being shut down. without classes to attend, you can't qualify academically to play. now will you two please kindly stop arguing in circles.

You still don't grasp that he DID NOT say the football program could be shut down?
You really are stupid.

BTW, this isn't an argument. It's an idiot making false claims and me telling him he's wrong.

Talking about taking out of context. I was replaying to the LSU poster that said that the LSU football program returns money to the University, therefore it is on solid financial footing.
As for the rest? I'm not sure what difference of suspending the program for a year and shutting it down for a year is. And, if UAB is any indication...they shut their program down and it was for more than a year. Since Schedules are set up years in advance if a program gets shutdown (Suspended or whatever else you want to call it) it would be for longer than a year. However, as I said above, I think we all realize it is all smoke and mirrors and the football program will not be shutd...errr.......suspended at all.

Isn't it the truth? I have been trolling, but for them to not recognize that a shut down and a suspension is the same thing is.....mind boggling.
