You're also unsure of the difference between the university shutting down because of financial issues and the football program shutting down.

Hence the reason most of us are laughing at you.

You are correct. I have been stupid. This:

"That means you can say farewell to college football next fall," Edwards said in the address

Obviously means football will go on as planned.

You're so dense that you can't even comprehend what you're wrong about.

So, explain to me what the difference is? If the University is shut down thereby shutting down the football program.....subtleties are completely lost on you, aren't they? Do you REALLY believe if the University shuts down that the football program will go on? No. So, if the University shuts down does that mean football is shut down, too?

Sorry. But you just can't understand simple language. When your governor says "you can say farewell to college football next fall" you want to argue that football i wouldn't be shut down?

I can't talk to you. Let me give you a clue.

Blue really is blue.

Only the LSU fans, and not all of them. Everybody else is laughing at LSU...hence all the threads.

Do you really need me to explain the difference between the entire university shutting down and just the football program?

Good Lord.

So, the Governor didn't threaten to shutdown the football program, but rather the university? Exactly what I've been saying this whole time?

Thanks.

I don't know why you, or anyone for that matter, would be laughing at LSU. A governor threatening to shutdown 29 colleges and universities acorss the state, affecting hundreds of thousands of students (tens of thousands not being residents of Louisiana) isn't exactly funny to me, but let's make this about football to get people's attention and ignore the bigger issue of what that actually means. People making this a laughing matter are just as ignorant and short-sided as the governor making the threats.

I mean this story shouldn't even be about the LSU football program.

Wouldn't they both be shut down? Do you really need someone to explain THAT to you? Without the University the Football program does not exist. I'm sorry you can't understand this.

You're hopeless. No need to feed this troll. You can't understand, I'm afraid. LSU used to be a good school, but if you are an example of the education coming from there, then perhaps they should shut it all down. Done talking to someone who can't comprehend simple logic.

Threats is the key word. People are laughing at LSU fans because you seem to be taking this so seriously. Do you REALLY think he is going to shut down all the Universities and colleges you just mentioned? And yet, there you are chastising people for making fun of you for believing it.

what LSU fan has said they believe it's going to happen? LSU fans aren't starting threads on it. And that's not why you're laughing at LSU. You're laughing about LSU because the remote possibility of LSU's football program being suspended is funny to you, nevermind the bigger surrounding issue of that happening. No, none if it will happen, and no LSU fan has said there's a possibility it will happen, quite the opposite actually. The biggest issue, to me at least, is the audacity JBE had even making the statement he did.

I think you are confused. No LSU fan is taking this seriously, we think the gov is an idiot for insinuating such nonsense. Other sec schools are either taking this seriously or just trying to troll the hell out of LSU fans.

The athletic department is privately funded. What Governor Edwards said, first and foremost, was a political threat - much like how President Obama threatened that government programs would stop giving aid in the event of a government shut down if the Republicans wouldn't come to terms in the house. Now, there is some truth to what Edwards said. IF Louisiana has to shut down (the state-funded school, not athletic department) LSU, the whole team is obviously ineligible because there's no classes. But, like Obama's threat, none of this will happen. It's just a political move to threaten the worst possible outcome that no one wants to see happen.

I wish people would stop the threads about LSU football shutting down.

With TOPS almost certainly going away, I would expect LSU to have a significantly smaller enrollment in the future.

The big losers will be overpaid Professors that get laid off.

I don't think TOPs will go away forever, but it definitely needs to be reformed, and this has been the case for awhile

TOPS isn't going away. There is already a proposal to drastically raise the minimum requirements, which is exactly what is needed.

It is sad but that is the only way to get some people's attention now. You have to scare them using the things they care most about because everyone's priorities are backwards.

Yep, mostly because you said something as stupid as...

...and now you're trying to walk that back.

Just stay under the porch, dog.
