then why do people continue to bring it up?

Because it gets a good reaction out of most LSU fans, most are trolling or don't have a brain.

Its b/c everyone's understanding even of the govs threat is incorrect. He never even said he'd shut down football. What he said was essentially, if there's no payroll for staff, the universities would have to shut down, in which case the students and student athletes would become ineligible and thus by extensions stopping football state wise. He never even mentioned LSU at that, he just said football in Louisiana. But that didn't stop every sports media from turning that into him threating to shut down LSU Football... LOL

That.

I don't know why it's so hard for college football fans to remember that their football teams are supposed to represent universities. If there's no money to pay college professors, college students can't go to class. If college students can't go to class, they can't play football.

The governor wasn't saying he was going to cancel the season, he said that if they can't get the money to keep the university open, then there wouldn't be a football season. that's the only way he can get the stupid people of Louisiana to pay attention to the critical financial status of the university system - relate it to football.

think about it; they can vote. is it any wonder that we have such shitty representatives in our government (both parties)? an outside observer would say we get what we deserve (and they do).

I think most people understand that concept just fine.

Louisiana voters are the dumbasses who elected this fool. Stop talking down to everyone else like it's too complicated to understand.

It's not the university system that's under a financial crisis. It's the state of Louisiana that is. Unfortunately, due to how the LA constitution is constructed, there are only certain entities that can be cut or defunded. For whatever reason, education is one of those things, hilarious and baffling i know. The university systems in Louisiana are not the problem, the government is. Unfortunately, one is reliant upon the other for funding. And this all falls on the price of oil dropping so dramatically (btw, everyone in this country should be concerned about that instead of rejoicing it only costs 30-40 bucks to fill up their cars again).

LSU has won 4 SEC Titles since 2001. In 2001, 2003, 2007, and 2011. LSU has played in 3 NC games (03,07,11) and won 2 NCs in (03,07).

UGA has won an NC in 1980.

Please don't attempt to act as if UGA's success is even remotely at LSU's level in the last 15 years because it isn't.

Fact be known, if UGA played in the SEC West it wouldn't have had even the level of success it has had because UGA has benefitted from playing in the SEC East. So please stop your posturing especially since UGA is the only SEC Big 6 team to not win a National Title in the last 15 or so years.

Please.

Put it this way...our athletics raise more money than Auburn and are privately funded and we give many millions to the academics side of the university.

If by most, you mean roughly half the posters on this board, you'd be correct.

I think it's clear that quite a few people don't understand the concept at all.

Maybe yall should cut entitlements to all the welfare queens. Is the state Constitution really so fricked up that you can't cut back on welfare programs? If so, how the hell did yall let it get so bad?

I agree wholeheartedly those are the programs that should but cut first, but I honestly think those programs are protected, from what i understand. And I won't take any of the blame for this as I'm not, nor have I ever been, a member of the voting populace in the state of Louisiana. But yes, politics in the state of LA are fricked, always have been. And if the culture is still the same as it's always been, this new governor sounds like he's asking for his dead body to be dumped in the bayou.

Do you work for the Government or something? What kind of people do you think you are holding a conversation with?

You're right! How could I ever listen to the governor in charge of the state over an anonymous internet poster...what was I thinking!
