How many times does it have to be explained that the athletic budget is 100% raised by private funds and donates several million back to the university each year, Read for god's sake

The level of stupidity on this board almost surprises me at times.

The buyout of Kevin Steele should pay for it and leave us some cash left over.

Thanks for that btw. We're a little strapped, it was really nice of y'all to relieve us of Steele to help out a bit.

Maybe soneone should explain it to the LA Governor. He's the one on TV talking about how LSU is too poor to play football.

That stupid governor is grandstanding in the worst way because he is desperate to raise taxes AND make sure all his cronies are still well paid. It's the Louisiana way...except he's just too stupid to keep it hidden. He will be the Jimmy Carter of Louisiana governors...unless he lasts long enough to become their Barack Obama.

LSU athletics contributes more back to the school's academic programs every year than the state spends on it. That's called making a PROFIT. Putting in X dollars and getting back X plus Y dollars. JBE would never cut an athletic program that makes the university money unless he wants to be recalled immediately...but sure, he will go in front of the cameras and threaten to do it because he is a slime ball who thinks the people of Louisiana are even more stupid than he is.

First of all he's FOS, second of all, he was talking about the university having to shut down because of lack of funding for academia, NOT sports.

If you're gonna start a dumbass troll thread, at least come correct.

LSU's athletics department is among the wealthiest in the country.

He is talking about the walk-ons that rely on TOPS to go to school not athletic scholarship players, so he really is an idiot (JBE). Also if they were to cut TOPS players on athletic scholarship would still be able to play. So of course Fournette will still whip Auburn's arse.

Just cause he talked about it doesn't mean you had to believe him. He's an idiot.

JBE was talking about the posibility of athletes losing eligibility if the schools close. The NCAA requires each student athlete to be enrolled in classes so it doesn't really matter that LSU athletics is self funding. Why can't anyone get this straight?

He's only an idiot because he has a "D" next to his name. NCAA student athletes are required to be enrolled in a university with particular academic requirements. JBE clearly stated that if our budget issues go unresolved that universities or particular programs will be forced to close. Do you get it yet?

Does seem weird that the one entity that makes money for a cash strapped University is the one being threatened to be shut down. And if they are privately funded, why would the governor even think about shutting it down? I'm not dismissing the LSU fan explanations. They certainly know more about the inner workings than I do, but it just seems unusual.

Once AGAIN, only about 11% of LSU's total annual
fiscal budget comes from the State.
If cuts end up being made, there will be remedies the Administration will have to make to remedy this temporary situation Program-wise and Physical Plant-wise.
The LSU TAF (Tiger Athl. Found.) just gave 10 mil. to the Uni ersity.
Also, eat shite and jump off a building.

How is LSU paying CDC? (Serious) by AU_251

Explanation simple

Oil prices down

New Democratic governor

Wants to raise taxes

Makes a emotional speech and mentions football to scare Louisiana voters.

LSU football is not going anywhere and neither is LSU University. The Governor hands are tied somewhat on the spending side but does have more control of education and health care. There needs to be trimming of the spending in Louisiana due to low oil prices and exploration being down. There will end up cuts to every area of the Louisiana budget and the Louisiana legislature is meeting this week and the cuts will be coming soon and I promise you LSU football is sound and there will be cuts at LSU like capital expansions and a few other areas but football is ok.
