How do you know this? How many big non-conference Bama games have you been to, and why?
quote:
last years game against Washington had a huge section doing it. maybe you havent heard it, but it has happened pretty much every year
I wasn't there for that one, but didn't hear it over the TV.
quote:
or your theory is just completely incorrect...
How many Bama fans do you know that have ever said or ever would say "War fricking eagle" as the OP did in this thread?
Don't you people still try to give us shite for "Roll Ducks Roll" and "Roll Tribe Roll?"
Yeah... yeah you do. And that wouldn't be the case if Bama fans as a whole were so prideful of their conference that they pulled for their rivals to win.

okay so the ND NC game? were you there for that one?

well that has nothing to do with the topic.
quote:so this is your mindset into the theory? again, Bama fans do this(chant SEC and have SEC pride) in large numbers despite everything you have typed here. time to give up....

No, no it's not... because it's not true. The only video I can find of Bama fans chanting "SEC" was the 2012 game vs ND, and even that was a small group of people.
quote:
well that has nothing to do with the topic.
What? The OP talks about UT and Auburn and our "need to pull for them." It has everything to do with this thread.

Pretty much zero evidence of this besides one video from one game. I'll take my first hand experiences over anything you're spewing.
Feel free to provide me with alllllllllll those links to allllllllll those videos with alllllllllll those bammers chanting "SEC" at OOC games every single year, though.

okay search harder. again your theory is debunked

as a conference, not saying war eagle.

There are more but this is typical of bama fans. "we never do that", "we are above that" etc..., then you show them that they do it. Then it's, "Well that time doesnt count"
Bama fans were cheering "SEC" in last years playoffs for christ sake.
again its time to move on, you are wrong. You even acknowledged they did it recently. Quick question, were you at the ND game?

quote:Yea is was - vs Texass back in '09 and a really large and loud contingent screamed SEC vs Notre Dame in '12, I don't remember hearing it vs Clemson in '15. And I don't recall it too much in any of the kickoff games.
Didn't happen at the ones I've been at, and I've been to three national championships, and several of the kickoff classics. Only time I remember it happening was the 2008 game vs Clemson. If it did happen, it was a small portion of the fanbase.
It's neither here nor there, but I have a sense of pride in the conference. I always cheer for SEC teams in March Madness, baseball season, softball, etc. Just because my alma matre has been arse in some of those sports for a while doesn't diminish my support for other contenders from this conference.
Of course I was proud of the state of Alabama when Bama & Auburn made the NC game for 5 straight years. I'm sure my opinions are in the minority from what other SEC folks think, but I don't give a shite.

Provide some links, or hush up. Already seen the 20 people chanting it at Notre Dame. Who cares.
Where are the rest?

Down vote me if you want Tuscaloosa, it happened.
Hell, there was a smallish crowd that yelled it in the Dome vs the Huskies in the semi-final last year.

Might have. I didn't hear it where I was sitting, and definitely didn't participate, but back in 2009 Alabama fans still had battered wives syndrome.

Also possible. But "smallish" crowds chanting it in isolation do not represent the mentality of an entire fanbase.

20? that's cute
Were you at this game or not?

Again its time to move on, you are wrong and you keep going at it. Again last year a very large section of bama fans were chanting SEC, not 10 years ago.
Does it suck to call your own team a bottom dweller?

Conference superiority is most important for Championship contenders. Teams like Bama LSU, Auburn, and others who should contend more, should promote the lower ranked teams in order to boost their own rankings.
Teams like MSU definitely benefit from the SEC's place in the bowl hierarchy, which allows for greater exposure to better bowl games.
A rising tide floats all boats (just wish the rising tide wasn't always crimson)

I want to remind you of what you matter of factly stated:
I want to see videos of this happening. There are videos of Dixieland Delight, Rammer Jammer, and even videos of Ohio State fans taunting us with "SEC."
You are crawfishing. You stated it happened every single year and you know this because there are videos.
Post the videos of the "large numbers" of Bama fans doing this or the "1/4 of the stadium". TIA.

You have already found one on your own, yet you still are fighting.

You are crawfishing.
Again, for the 100th time Bama fans chanted SEC as recently as last year....yet you continue to claim they dont do this. despite you finding proof on your own.
I asked a simple question earlier. Were you at the ND game?
Posted on 9/6/17 at 4:04 pm to NYCAuburn
You said they do it in large numbers every single year and you know that to be fact because "there are videos." Post them.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Were you at the ND game where you said it did not happen?

quote:think about what the alternative is: go to a lesser conference and msu suffers even more
I refuse to blindly support things that further bolster Alabama
quote:while i totally agree, these types of comments totally lack context; i.e. other msu-like teams are worse off because they don't play in a conference with the prestige of the sec
I contend that if Bama wasn't always playing for the title then MSU would have signed players like Raekwon Davis, Scott Lashley and Nigel Knott. These kind of players are just jersey #s at Bama , but they could boost an MSU roster that needs quality depth. Heck, they could be difference makers at MSU

quote:we sec fans constantly look down on conferences that are top heavy or 1 good team because their time in the "spotlight" is illegitimate in comparison to bama. it's just cooked up by the media
Bama doesn't need them to win shite for us to be in the spotlight
quote:and the conference strength helped none? obviously this is stupid
We built our own reputation
quote:the evidence is freakin obvious that it does help
And there's not any evidence to suggest otherwise.

quote:false. every clued up fan should pull for their opponents to win every game they play except for when they play the home team. it boosts your s.o.s.
I have no need or desire to pull for Auburn this weekend against Clemson
