Yes he did. You can see it in the picture. He's already all over Lewis and the ball is just getting there.

Yes you do. You hear it in almost every college game where PI is called because the defender never turned his head to the ball.

If the defender changes directions, you can "wash them down" (once again something I use to teach offensive linemen daily). What you can't do is grab them by the shoulder pads as you see in that picture. Once again, that's text book holding.

and Lawson put his hands into Jackson's facemask on that play. So what?

That's not what happened. The momentum carried his arms up and around. That's why his elbows are angled upward instead of more horizontally. He then pulled his arms back and continued blocking.

His arms are wrapped around the Auburn defender. The instant that happens, he's guilty of holding. Nothing else of what you're trying to say matters one bit.

Please let this be a thread meant to rustle bama and not a reflection of what the Auburn fan actually thinks.

The ref has never said this when announcing the penalty. The penalty is because they make contact with the receiver without making a play on the ball.

The ball was already touched in that picture.

Good luck ever getting a ref to call that.

They use it as one of the determining factors on many PI calls.

The only thing the ball is touching is the Bama defender's arm while he has already come into contact with Lewis who is attempting to catch the pass.

Honest question, is your first name Tom? And would your last name start with an "R" and end with a "itter"?

Yeah, crazy to think this would be called holding...

When I watched the replay it looked to me like Jackson's arm slipped to the side making it look like a hold. I could see him getting flagged for it, and it wouldn't have bothered me. I just don't think it's as egregious as some Auburn fans are making it out to be.

Hands to the outside, grasping the shoulders. That's holding. The difference is I can admit it instead of coming up with absurd excuses why clear cases of holding are not what they obviously are.

The filthy bastards buy players left and right. You don't think they buy refs too?

I don't know about your last 2 page argument, but most of us have been saying that there is holding all over the field this year, specifically in the trenches and it just hasn't been called all season.

That is VASTLY different than BAMMER IS HOLDING AND CHEATING. Vastly different.

I never said it was just a case of Bama cheating,. More than anything this is an indictment against Tom Ridder and S EC officials in general. I even admitted when examples of Auburn holding were posted that Aluburn was guilty of holding.

The holding issue has been a pet peeve of mine not just the season for several seasons now. It's getting out of hand and it's starting to affect the outcome of games and even seasons. This is not just an Alabama issue this is an SEC issue.

I don't disagree with you. I think it is a conscious decision they have made to back off on holding calls except for those out in space (much like basketball foul rules). I don't know why, but it seems to be pretty clear.
