Holding can be called on every play they always say.

Sure, but when the holds are happening right next to the ball carrier and keeps the defender from making a play, most fans expect those to be called. Those examples don't seem to be holds away from the play.

Nein.
Sie sind nicht diese majestätischen Geschöpfe. Sie sind Bussarde. Umfassen Sie Ihren neuen Boden-Fütterung Rolle, Bussarde.

I was screaming at the top of my lungs for holds all year (like every year) in the big games.

I hear you. It can be frustrating to watch happen, especially live. It's just funny how that's the ONE thing everyone loves to point out about Bama. When a fan has nothing else to hold on to, and can't accept the responsibility that their team got beat, they latch on to whatever they can to believe they weren't given a fair shake.

I'd like to see how many holds were called against our opponents this year. I guarantee it isn't more than 10 or 15. And that is against the past defensive line in football and one of the best 5 pass rushes in football.

They have clearly gone with the "let them play" approach up front unless a guy is literally tackled (and even then not always, which happened twice in the Alabama-Tennessee game uncalled).

Did we hold limiting you to 264 yds? (Your QB did that)

It's just fans being fans. I don't blame missed calls for the loss, I blame Henry's 300 yards and AU's terrible redzone/qb play. I do wish there was some consistency on holds though, for everyone involved. It seems they'll call holds away from the play more often than one right next to the ball carrier.

I agree. Like I said, it feels like they have almost abandoned holding calls inside the box.

Well, presumably, what he's got is better things to do with his time than go through 60 minutes of still shots of linemen blocking. Or maybe Stan White put this together for the OP?

It would be really easy to do the same going the other way but I just don't think anyone cares enough.

When it comes to SEC football, holding is defined as "that thing that is cheating when other teams do it but not when we do it, and we have exclusive photos of other teams but not our team to prove it."

It's called confirmation bias, i.e. the primary source of football "facts" on the Rant.

I disagree. There is holding in one or two of those pictures.

I wouldn't doubt if it's an unpublicized agreement (a rule change without an actual rule change) to continue this "player safety" campaign by limiting the times the DE/LB can get a full contact hit on the ball carrier.

I love conspiracy threads. Even if these plays were holding and they were not called, ever think that maybe the SEC officials just suck?

I am amazed that anyone took the time to still frame those shots. As has been stated the same could be done to Auburn or any team playing on Saturday. I do believe they should do a better job of calling holding at the point of attack, but until they do I don't blame any player for doing it.

Also, the one where Robinsons hand ends up under the shoulder pad isn't a hold. That's something that happens nearly every play. The OL have to get leverage somehow.

I think these are just photos someone took at field level.
