Some would suggest that running an offense that relies on snapping the ball before the defense is ready is a bit cowardly in itself.

The only people that suggest that are morons and bama/arky fans.

No, its dead on.

I understand why yall are so up in arms about this. It must be embarrassing to run such a cheap system.

Come play football like men.

These poor ref's are going to get grilled this year - I bet ole Roger Redding's arse is tight as a drum. He and Slive will be pressed pretty hard to "educate" the officiating crew about controling the pace of the game.

I actually think this is where a lot of the action is going to take place.

I think the rule as proposed will be rejected this year but will be repackaged as something that will require/help officials administer the game better/differently on the field next year.

Player safety issues aside (I realize that's a powder keg topic), many of the officials seem incompetent/inconsistent with the current format of running to spot the ball as fast as they can, checking to see if the offensive team subbed, making decisions about whether to stand over the ball / not stand over the ball / how long to stand over the ball, in addition to making all of the other pre-snap penalty determinations they have to make. I think eventually we will see some rule that addresses this and give some uniformity / clarity to help the officials.

It may be something as informal as the NFL where the officials basically just refuse to get in a hurry / have pace of play dictated by the offense, and you basically have the equivalent of a de facto 10 second between end of play / possible beginning of the next play system that the proposed rule calls for.

I kinda thought the 10 seconds was a compromise.

Entire college football world is laughing at Saban and Bama fans...and marveling at the lack of integrity...and Trey Anastasio thinks that Auburn fans are embarrassed.

Not sure why you are laughing. This is going to pass. Everything from here on out is a formality.

Not sure if trolling, but most do not expect it to pass because of numerous factors... No evidence, went out side the normal procedure, public outcry.

Why are you so confident?

Should be an intersting season ---- watching Saban blow a vessel screaming at the officials ---- then watching Malzhan jumping up and down swinging his arms 'round and 'round to get things moving faster and faster.
