I make fun of Les Miles quite a bit and so on, but the fact is, he is the ONLY coach in the SEC that has withstood the tremendous pressure from Bama/Saban. Every other team in the league has had at least one new HC sans Georgia, since Saban arrived at Bama. Many have had 2 or 3 new coaches.
For that, he gets his due respect from me. He hasn't beaten Saban now since 2011 but that isn't entirely his fault either. He's stood toe to toe with the best and never backed down like a coward. Can't say the same for many other big shot coaches that have come and gone. The SEC will be a lesser conference when Miles and Saban are gone.
Edit: Mark Richt doesn't get a mention really because he doesn't face Saban very often and hasn't beaten him since 2007. He may change that this year but not at the moment. He also has won nothing at Georgia since Saban's arrival at Bama.

Our last three coaches have gone undefeated and won an SECC in regular season and/or MNC since Richt has.
I must have missed that Tubs SEC title after Richt won it in 05. Weird
Look, Richt has underachieved plenty at times, but to suggest that Auburn is the program Dawg fans point to as some beacon we aspire to be is laughable. Hell, a lot of times you're the only decent program we consistently beat. If you were a Florida or Bama fan you could make this argument.

If UGA wins it all this season, Auburn will have absolutely nothing to hang their hats on as it pertains to Georgia.
Right now, all they have is "we luckily bought arguably the best player in college football history and he led us to a title in 2010." That's literally it.

Very well said. And lost on AU fans I'm sure. Not only is AU not a program UGA aspires to, they are pretty much the opposite. Big seasons followed by 3 win seasons and a new coach. They can have their great run with Cam and the miracle season. I sure as hayull wouldn't trade places with them.

Now that he hired the biggest program killer in college football I would give him less then 5 years before he is gone.

To be fair to all coaches in the SEC West - everybody can't win 10 games every year. Gus has as good a chance as all of them except Saban. The number of 5*'s and track record at Bama is unprecedented right now. That being said - if Gus can push Saban to retire in the next couple of years then AU is going to rule the West for a long time. No Saban in the West - Gus will get another 3 or 4 top recruits and the torch will be passed. Very similar to Bear - Dye torch passing except Gus will be winning titles because he can run more than dive left (see..Burt).

He stays at Auburn unless Arkansas or NFL calls and if he stays 10 yrs he will have close to 100 wins

The fact you think Saban is responsible for all of the coaching turnover in the league since 2007 is fricking gold.
Please dude, never stop posting.

I'd say Saban is responsible for more than 2007+ go all the way back to 2002-2003

Gus is in no man's land as far as his career has gone.He hasn't fielded his own team at this level til now.The jury will be out until he has his own team and system as a head coach.

You literally just said Les Miles is the only coach who's withstood the pressure. You aren't crawfishing now, are you?
