A+
Honestly it's between Florida and US for best AD in the SEC and possibly the country. Both seem to have a knack for making great hires and have their athletic programs generating tons of cash.

Good thing you did, otherwise, he would have challenged you to a fight.

I take that back, he gets a B just because of the epic egg he laid by hiring the muschimp.

Alleva is in C+ or B- range IMO. Shows some weakness in some areas and acts much too diplomatically to win stances sometimes against others. Also, mediocre hires at times...

idk because I don't know the inner workings of being an AD
So I'm not qualified to give a grade and none of you are either

3 years ago I would have said F, currently I'd give him a B+. He's improving over time.
He still has a face I'd like to punch though, not very likable.
ETA:
I mean, tell me you wouldn't like to as well?

B
Only two hires...women's basketball and now men's basketball. Though gymnastics promoted Dana Duckworth under his watch. She just won a SEC title.
Facility overhaul for baseball is amazing. No other major projects scheduled right now.

Alleva gets a C. Love seeing the upgrades to olympic sports facilities, but he does seem to sit on his hands a lot when it comes to the big 3.

Judging his entire history he ranks among the greatest of all time.
Only AD to ever oversee a program that won national titles in basketball and football in the same year (I believe the only one to ever win both as well). Over his 23 years, UF has won 24 team national titles in 11 different sports, 125 SEC titles which is more than 2/3 of the conference has won in it's entire history. UF has been ranked the top athletic department in the conference every year but one and has ranked in the top 5 of the Director's Cup 16 of 23 years including five 2nd place finishes.
He has done all of that with no NCAA trouble and overseeing one of the most profitable departments in the country with relatively little debt. No doubt he has made questionable decisions, but overall can't imagine him getting anything less than an A+.

My grade for him is a D.
I certainly won't be sending him a Christmas card, but aside from completely razing and rebuilding stegeman and foley at the same time, what exactly would you want out of GM to make his grade higher? Specifically.

I'll give Alleva a B+
-currently 7 top 10 spring sports
-new facilities going up left and right
-little to no trouble with the NCAA outside of the Womack bs
-given Maineri and Miles autonomy and a big budget to work with
-The Johnny Jones hire so far has been solid. Torina was a grand slam. Julia Sell is doing a nice job too
-fights for LSU at SEC meetings more than any other LSU AD we've had
frick ups
-giving Nikki Caldwell a ridiculous contract. I don't understand why he gave her so much job security
-Trent Johnson was an awful hire, but again every good AD makes bad hires sometimes
-moving the basketball student section to behind the goal

Proactively make a good faith effort to be better than our peers, especially in football and men's basketball. UGA is legitimately always the last "big" SEC program to make upgrades to those programs. He always waits for Foley to make his move at UF, then copies him.
ETA: and not get in semi-public pissing matches with the football program.

I mean, is there even any AD in this conversation?

As we sit I don't think you can argue that he isn't doing that.
With football we've brought on about 50 GAs and "other" personnel. We also brought in T.Brown and a 9 year NFL vet on staff. We're moving forward with a state of the art IPF. We are massively upping our scholarship offer list compared to years past.
Basketball we made (years ago) some very nice facade upgrades to stegeman. Insides were renovated as well. Foley got some nice new upgrades too, in addition to finally dropping the dead weight that was Perno.
Keep in mind I'm not giving him an A by ANY stretch of the imagination, and he still does things that piss me off. But I think a D is pretty unfair.

Specifically.
1. Something really needs to be done with Stegeman. It is an utter embarrassment.
2. Quit dragging his feet on the IPF (Evans shares blame with this as well).
3. Mark Fox is a likeable guy, but he needs to be fired.
4. I was on the fence about Perno being fired, but Strickland is horrid. Swept by Mizzou and Mercer Also, Foley needs major renovations, not just a facelift.
5. I'm not really sure what happened with our gymnastics program. Perennial national champs to garbage imo. Something needs to be done.
That's a start.

We're where AU, UT, LSU, and UA were five years ago in football staffing, which is exactly my point. If you believe some people (Lowndes), Morehead had to step in to make even that much happen.
The IPF is moving along at a snail's pace. UF went from proposal to breaking ground in less than six months. UGA is at least nine months from the same stage. Again, UGA is behind.
McGarity doesn't have anything to do with football offers.

I haven't been to either of those venues since renovations, so I won't comment on those. I've gotten the impression that it was lipstick on a pig in both cases though.
ETA: McGarity going to the AJC to try to deflect blame really, really pissed me off.
