It's not like Auburn's offense had been marching down the field all game and it was an automatic touchdown that was coming.

Only about 25 yards and a FG was needed.

There is nothing lucky about a RB with a low center of gravity having excellent balance.

I honestly don't think it takes a great coach to win a NC. Hell, Les miles did it and while he is a very good coach, he is far from great. If Richt ever got a game changer (i.e. Tebow, Manziel, Cam Newton) I think he could pull it off. What makes Bama so successful every year is a great core of RB's, a NFL caliber defense every year and a hard nosed defensive minded coach who doesn't coddle his players. It is a recipe for success. Player's coaches like Miles and Richt will always be successful, but you have to be tough on these kids to keep them focused for an entire season to win it all. Just my 2 cents.

Uhhh it most certainly doesn't, auburn just did it 4 years ago.

He's had several, you still gotta have a defense though. Tebow was a gamechanger and won the heisman the same year his team lost 4 games due to their defense.

the best coach in america, an NFL-caliber OL, great RBs, above average WRs, and an elite, top 5 national defense.

Richt's not winning a title has nothing to do with his personality or how he treats his players.

He actually DID have a shot at Cam but spurned him for Logan Gray.

No he didn't. Cam was never coming to UGA. He bought Urban's lies that he was going to split time with Tebow

On Auburn quarterback Cam Newton: “Just when you thought [Tim] Tebow left town, he showed up again in another jersey.”
On recruiting Newton as a high school player: “I remember him. He was a very talented guy, a guy that we did look at. We actually had him pegged as more of a tight end prospect. A lot of it had to do with what we like to do offensively, more of a fit [issue] than any disrespect to his ability to play quarterback. He’s proven to be pretty darn good, though.”

FWIW I get the whole "we run a certain system" thing but yea, not one of his best moments as HC

Most teams were recruiting him as a TE and he was ranked as a TE on the services. Meyer at UF was one of the few telling him he'd get the chance to play QB.

I mean, shite, that's the second AU QB we tried to bring in for something else. Because we run a big boy offense.

Hindsight is always 20/20. I'm sure plenty of teams kicked themselves for not giving David Pollack more attention after he became a 3 time all american. He was a high school FB, and came to UGA as a FB, before we moved him to DT for a year then ultimately DE.

Cam WAS a TE 'prospect', but he could play QB too. We had no need for a QB at the time (and again, hindsight...logan gray was the gatorade POY in missouri so it's not like we got some scrub off the street) and as mentioned other schools wanted him at TE as well. It's easy to look back at his career and call everyone a dumbass for not wanting him at QB but at the time, there was nothing far-fetched about it.

I believe that winning a Natty takes a lot of luck. First, you have to have at least a couple of classes in your 4-5 on campus that are top 10 and the rest at least top 25, but other than that you need the chips to fall your way.

Richt has done a good job of keeping Georgia in striking distance. All he needs is that lucky season to come his way. He's just been terribly unlucky so far. I think it'll eventually happen for him. I'll be happy for him and Georgia for having stuck it out when it does.

Not one damn recruiting service had him as a TE.

Rivals - #2 Dual-Threat QB (5*)
Scouts - #14 QB (4*)
ESPN - #9 Quarterback (58th overall)

The shite some of you make up...
