Count me among the people who think if he hasn't won a national title after 15 years he never will

True but I also mean your opposition too. ND was going to lose to pretty much any team pit against them, let alone SEC team. Winning the seccg meant winning the natty in 2012.

Oh I know. I watched that NCG in absolute agony knowing what could have been

It seems that year 17 is the year to win it.
Dammit, Spurrier is retiring after 15 years.

Sorry that I don't blame bad luck or injuries for all of Georgia's losses

Schembechler and Fry, patience was not rewarded with a National Title.

Georgia has had some terrible luck whereas some other SEC teams to win titles during the Richt years have had some great luck. Nothing you can do about that

I think almost every team that has won a national title has had a little luck. Off the top of my head:
02 - PI on Miami in endzone
05 - Carroll keeping Bush on sideline against Texas + breaks against both OSU teams.
06 - Ted Ginn gets injured on the 1st play of the game
07 - LSU had 2 losses including that bad loss at home to Arkansas.
09 - Mccoy gets injured on 1st series of game
10 - Dyer's run where he wasn't actually down (plus cam falls into Auburn's lap)
11 - Bama gets a second chance against LSU
12 - Notre Dame lucked into NC game, essentially assuring Bama the championship + tipped ball that was caught against UGA
13 - No charges against Jameis.

Hopefully we'll get some luck to get to the title game, and then a little more luck once we get there. At the same time, we haven't taken complete advantage of our talent every year either.

We lucked into two titles and got fricked on the one we actually deserved. shite happens. I feel like a title is due for the Dawgs and I hope they get it. Richt is a good dude and a good coach

I'm hoping Les can be one of those with 15-18 years.

If it weren't for a field goal kicker Bowden would probably considered on the same plane as Bryant.

I don't think we got lucky with 2003. There was no debate we should have been there, the debate was OU/USC. Now it definitely could be said that the Trojans would have been a whole different game.

Not a national championship coach, but Beamer should be considered elite, and I don't think he had a winning record at Tech till year 6. That would never happen now.
Richt is a great coach, a little bad luck and playing in the best conference in the history of college football.

He's taken UGA to their maximum potential in this day and age IMO. When recruits from your home state grow up not wanting to attend their home state school you're already at a huge competitive disadvantage, and he's been able to rise above that and still win the east a few times. They would be lucky to keep him another 10 years with his current trends of success.

And he'll probably be there after Miles, Saban and Spurrier has retired.

Wouldn't surprise me. He can't be that old.
Eta: 54. He could easily go another 10-15 years.
Also, when I was entering his name in Google. When give options for auto complete, third option was "Mark Richt has lost control"

Did you get the losing control option as well when googling?
