Peterson rushed for 100 yards or more in every game except 1 as a freshman.
I don't think fournette is the next AP, but AP also had over 330 carries his freshman season.

Keiland was not a physical runner, though he was def big enough and strong enough. Keiland was soft.
Maybe so. I liked Keiland. He had a few runs in his career that were spectacular. Fournette's running style reminds me of Keiland. Maybe not between the tackles, but his outside runs and that he seemed to have a hard time moving his hips when making cuts.

He has the tools and the ability to be one of the great.
It is the mental aspect that he needs to work on.
Nothing will be handed to him and he will have to bust his arse and take it.
That is what will determine if he is an all-time great.
Edit: He also needs to understand he is apart of a TEAM....

Meh, Boise held you to 71 rushing yards. Not to concerning for
LSU

He had like 95 yards rushing with plenty of time to spare in the 4th quarter. Miles punished him for the heisman pose by not giving him carries to break 100
130 from scrimmage yards
130 from scrimmage yards

Striking the Heisman pose against SHSU was not very bright. He just insured he'll get a few extra "love taps" this year.

Toefield, Davis, Ridley, Scott, Williams, Hester, Hill, Ware, etc. were all solid dependable sec backs but not the talent that Faulk or Collins were
You forgot one. Rather convenient you would forget Ailley Broussard, considering he was pretty much an unstoppable force in the backfield. I guess you will argue he didn't play long enough to be considered great. But let's be honest, longevity has nothing to do with talent level.

Broussard would be the "etc." in that list.

I stand by my statement regarding your talent evaluation.

any fan of any sec team that was paying attention back then will tell how much those games said about how talented Cecil Collins was. That was not hype that was scary real.
quote:
Come on. He has all of 3 tds. Yes his avg. 149 y/game and that's great but
Some LSU fans proclaim him a top 3 rd ever at lsu and it's not even remotely close. He may be top 3 what if.
BUT 149 yards a game average against unranked MISS ST.,AUBURN, AKRON Band VANDY just don't impress me enough to give him anything next to GOAT status
It's true that Cecil Collins only played in three full games before the injury and mental downfall, etc., but Cecil Collins was the best looking back I've ever seen at LSU (though it was all cut short). I mean, Auburn finished ranked #11 and went to the SEC Championship, and Cecil ran for 232 yards against them. State finished 7-4 and he ran for 172 yards and basically housed one for 60+ yards with one shoe on against State. Those were two of the better teams on LSU's schedule that year. I remember watching the Auburn re-broadcast after attending the game and Mike Gottfried (ESPN announcer) said he was a special back about 20 times. It was like he couldn't believe what he was seeing.
Kevin Faulk was a special player. He did everything great. Collins was an unstoppable force at RB from what I saw. However, you are right about him being a "what if" because he blew it by choosing the wrong path. Still, when people talk about eye tests, anyone who watched him is not wrong for comparing other highly touted RBs to him as a measuring stick. Because if you witnessed him run, you just didn't forget it.
