Reality of the situation is.. through week 2 (which means next to nothing) and playing pretty good competition.. Fournette has more from scrimmage yards than Derrick Henry, Kenyan Drake, or Mike Davis. I mentioned Drake because he's an extremely talented backup as is Henry, who he will be compared to for the next few years. Damn shame he couldn't handle that pitch too, cause that took away quite a few yards. If you had asked me going into week 2.. would I be happy with him being ahead of three very talented SEC backs.. absolutely. I'm thrilled with Buga minus the heisman pose which I wish he would have saved for Auburn.
May as well add in LF 142 yds (23 touches, 6.17 yards per touch) vs Tj Yeldon 188 yds (32 touches, 5.88 yards per touch)
Some growing pains but without a doubt in the upper echelon of talent in the SEC as a true freshman.

There's a lot of fear in the SEC. Anyone with any knowledge of football has the fear.

As far as LSUs SEC-west hopes go.. I'm scared. Auburn, A&M, Alabama, LSU, and even Ole Piss to contend with. That's absurd and if any team escapes unscathed.. well.. hats off
Brutal. 9 straight games including back to back road trips @Auburn, @Florida.. then we get Alabama at home, and have to travel to Arkansas after an emotional game win or lose..

the dropped pitch was bothersome but I'm really bothered by our play calling with him in. I love me some cam but this run LF into a 10 man front has got to go. We look like a completely different team when we go 3 wide and have Jennings in shotgun or pistol. I want to see buga get carries when we force the other team into nickel and let our oline actually have a chance to maul people.

We haven't had many "special" backs at LSU and the last one was Kevin Faulk. You could tell when he took the field his first game against Texas a&m that he had IT. Vision, elusiveness, and a burst through the line.
You could tell all that from 14 carries for 73 yards resulting in 5.2 ypc?
Or the 20 carries for 29 yards against Auburn?
Or the 14 carries for 38 yards against RICE?
The neat thing about box scores...they don't make shite up as they get older.

Cause Buga did better than that Jeremy Hill was fricking special in case people forgot.

But LF ain't getting 20+ carries a game...so the AP stats are gonna be better.
I'll reserve my judgement when he's the man. Though I will say that DW is gonna be a beast, as well.
Guice next year
He will have competition to make him better

Hill was eventually great.
Let's not forget he was not on the team his "true freshman" year.
And when he came back.
13 carries for 70 yards through six games.
Give Fournette time folks.

I get that his carries aren't up there with AP, but his YPC aren't either. It's time for LSU fans to completely stop bringing those two up in the same sentence. LF will be fine. He doesn't have to be AP.

Actually his YPC is just about even with AP at this point
AP had a 5.27 ypc average through two games. LF has a 5.23 ypc.

I am withholding judgment until the real competition begins. Playing patsies like everybody played this weekend doesn't really give one the big picture when it comes to evaluating talent. Thought the Heisman pose was ridiculous though.

The dude had 92 yards and could have had over 100 if Les had giving him more carries in the fourth quarter. If you don't think LF could have scored 3 TDs Saturday, you're smoking the Kush. Les rewards all of his running backs with carries and touchdowns thou.

Wow. Kid hasn't even fully adjusted yet, or carried the ball 20 times in a game yet and people are saying what he can or can't do. Not every one goes at the same pace, but I can see his ability. I also do not like the toss or stretch play that they have been trying to use with him. It seems that he's trying to be patient looking for his blocks and the crease, but it's either not there or he doesn't see it. One thing I noticed is when you let him run between the tackles or behind a fullback, he runs the way you would expect. Also Peterson was carrying the ball 20+ every single game as their focus. . Fournette is getting likely about 12 to 15 with the amount of backs we have. As Fournette gets comfortable, you give him the ball 20+ and I have know problem seeing him having some outstanding games.

I want him to be LF. The AP comparisons are stupid and should stop.
He'll be a good one and we'll be a better team for it.

Fournette is definitely tougher than Williams and just as fast.
Also, Williams was a beast his freshman year and just never improved. It happens.

I believe we started to figure this out toward the end of the SHSU game.

I couldn't undersatdn why we went back to it to start off SHSU
but I'm not one to claim I know more than the staff, and chalked it up as trying to be vanilla vs an FCS team

IMO les has his fat grubby hands in the offense again. The shite tightend offense is a Miles speciality. I feared we would turtle shell and go back to it against SHSU just to prove we could run the power set. We should be in 3 wide and shotgun most of the game. I figure it will take at least one loss before major changes happen. We will need to get down 20 or so vs auburn and be stuck going nowhere before we go with what works.
