but he is not our best running back right now. And yes, he has a lot to learn.

Who said he was our best? You said Magee was better. The coaches disagree. I'd like for you to tell me what YOU think LF needs to learn? I'd love to hear this.

Adrian Peterson didn't exactly look all world in his debut in college. It took him a couple games to get rolling.

AP's first season at OU he ran for:

100(BGSU), 117(Houston), 183(Oregon), 146(TTech), 225(Texas), 130(K State), 122(Kansas), 249(Ok State), 101(aTm), 58(Nebraska), 240(Baylor), 172(Colorado), 82(USC)

339 carries, 1925 yds, 5.7avg, 15 TDs.

Your statement is false. AP was a beast from his first game until the time he got injured in his junior season. He ran fast and angry and he dominated games. Fournette has time to get better, but he is no where close to Peterson.

It seems like "solid dependable back" is being interpreted as "no talent, will never amount to anything".

He has 113 yards on 21 carries
And 2 rec for 32 yards.

11 of his 21 carries have gone for 2 yards or less.

So yes, his overall numbers are solid. However, if you read into the stats you posted and I posted, it will show that there are some long outlier runs mixed in there. Basically, he's been a home run threat. Is that bad? No. However, that's not what beats big, physical SEC defenses. In my opinion, you need the guys who can get your 4-5 yards consistently through the holes. Someone like Hilliard.

Will Fournette get to that at some point this season? I hope so. I'm sure he will at some point in the next few seasons. But he's not there yet. Basically, I don't know if he will be able to bounce off SEC defenders as easy as he did against SHS defenders in the open field last night. He needs to be more of a north/south runner, and that's going to happen through his own improvement and also the improvement of the coaches (utilizing him better).

He has looked great out of the backfield. Hopefully Jennings looks for him more there.

Any fan of any sec team that was paying attention back then will tell how much those games said about how talented Cecil Collins was. That was not hype that was scary real.

Come on. He has all of 3 tds. Yes his avg. 149 y/game and that's great but
Some LSU fans proclaim him a top 3 rd ever at lsu and it's not even remotely close. He may be top 3 what if.
BUT 149 yards a game average against unranked MISS ST.,AUBURN, AKRON Band VANDY just don't impress me enough to give him anything next to GOAT status

Yet you seem pretty content saying Fournette has the entire package and really nothing to improve on after his performance against stellar Sam Houston State...

When Faulk came to LSU he was hyped about as much as you could be back then. He showed his special talent by braking many lsu and sec rushing records. I've corrected that and said in fact it was probably Collins.

Toefield, Davis, Ridley, Scott, Williams, Hester, Hill, Ware, etc. were all solid dependable sec backs but not the talent that Faulk or Collins were. You had to see, I think, to believe it.

It's awesome that he won't pan out. And every td against a scrub will be a pose. Good stuff here

I'm saying rushing for 149 a game against Akron miss st auburn and vandy don't make you a GOAT contender.
Youre saying some generic," he has a lot to learn " line about a true freshman. See the difference? Youve yet to say what LF has to "Learn".

Dear lord you people don't know how to differentiate between contextual information vs factual. The point of my statement had nothing to with facts but more towards the level of competition AP faced in his first two games which gave him self confidence and it got him rolling. LF faced Wisconsin in his debut and got 8 touches. In his second game he got 92 yards on 13 touches with a 7.1 YPC avg which is higher than AP was in his second game.
He will be fine and for the record even AP himself watched LF highlights and was impressed
