Is CS cheap in terms of cost of living?

Yes. I paid like 1300 a month for a three bedroom house in 2010-11

1300 total split between three people

Athens and Nashville have the best bar scene in the SEC, IMO. Granted I've never been to Starkville or Columbia but I think my assumption is safe.

Comparing Nashville to the rest really isn't fair. I haven't been to Athens. Nashville would be a badass place to go to college though.

That's nuts. You almost have to make six figures to afford living in Nashville these days. If you want to live in the city that is, or by Vandy (West End).

It was a pretty sweet gig. Cue the sidewalker shite talk. But I agree since Nashville is a city and not a college town.

Granted the midtown area is only Belmont, Vandy and Libscomb students. Broadway is obviously another animal.

Eta go visit Athens if you get the chance. It's awesome.

Yeah when I was there they were building like crazy. Houston is still relatively cheap for a city of it's size but a 1BR in Midtown or Rice Military is about $1800.

If you dropped the house I lived in CS into the Heights in Houston it would probably be 3600 a month

There's a website call like NashvilleCraneWatch.com or something. We are in a boom right now. $1800 in the city, renting, gets you a nice 1 BR around 700 sq ft-ish. It's pretty unreasonable to rent here TBH.

Top 3 in the SEC and top 10 in the country. Haters gonna hate.

Houston sounds about like Nashville cost of living. Difference is Nashville is expected to rise ~10% annually for who the frick knows how long. If you have money to buy rentals then this is the place to do it.

I can't figure out which is the bigger lol here. The fact that Gainesville and College Station are above Athens. Or that aggies are the only ones who post these list and rankings like it's the offseason.

To be fair the metrics used are a little odd and made to create discussion. Price of a burger? I mean, come on.

Nashville is the destination spot of the non-coastal southeast. It's clean, it's safe, and it's an incredible nightlife with a plethora of awesome hotels and AirBnB options.

If I could, I would live inside The Hutton on West End and eat lunch daily at SATCO.

I think we proved this weekend we should be #1 college town. Kids party and we have a pipeline to Memphis bringing in the spice. Our kids gets so high they jump out of Windows.

Surprised Oxford isn't on this list considering their claims.

Neither Oxford not Starkville were both too small to count on this list of cities that also have colleges in them.

Some of these knucklehead, fire breathing southerners just can't fathom Mizzou being in the top 10 on anything positive. Especially if Mizzou is rated higher than their beloved sweet spot. fricking hilarious!
