aw man...you have no idea. Damon Evans was notoriously cheap. He was more concerned with "increasing the brand" (hence trips to stillwater, boulder, and tempe for regular season games) than winning ballgames.

didn't know he [pruitt] had such an impact off the field

before pruitt got here, for away games the team had to bus the 1.5 hours from Athens to Atlanta to fly out of hartsfield. Now, we'll use Ben Epps which is roughly 2 miles from campus.

Pruitt has gotten us a full support staff, upgraded the S&C, and got raises for assistants. And as mentioned, within 1 year of being here he set plans in motion to begin moving forward with a state of the art IPF.

It can't be understated what he's done for this program.

because you have no such disadvantage, and you still can't win the big one

We haven't won the big one because we've had extremely bad luck. We've had injuries at the worst times possible, suspensions to key skill players, players kicked off the team, playing with a very depleted roster. None of these are excuses, they're just realities. Its why we haven't put it together. I suspect one year soon, we'll be able to avoid these situations.

You had 4 coaches in 6 years because your AD (specifically Mike Hamilton) was retarded, fired a HOFer, Kiffin bolted after a year, and Dooley blew balls

You were the second best team in Tennessee. I only say second because I am honestly not sure how good MTSU has been.

So is Tech the best team in GA? Because they beat you last year????

119+ teams every year don't win the big one. We've still played at a high level nationally the last 10 years, far FAR more so than tennessee.

We had Mike Hamilton as an AD.

Now, back to the original topic.

Are the stats true? Maybe y'all are due a coaching change.

Then again, I guess y'all are happy being a bridesmaid.

If our program slips back to 3-4 loss seasons I do think the $$ will finally dry up.

I will disagree here. The big money will never dry up at a place like UGA. Someone mentioned earlier and I think it is true that yall will have a new coach in the next 4-5 years regardless. Sometimes it's best to move on for both parties and I think that's what will happen.

I think this had more to do with the administration change than anything. As soon as Michael Adams (UGA President) left things started to make a dramatic shift.

This is stiff I never would've known. I passively keep up with any other program and would have no clue about admin changes.

im talking bout the SEC championship,

ok, since our last one in 2005:

06- we weren't a great team and had a TFr qb
07- no excuses, should have done better.
08- the national champs were in our divison
09- an undefeated top 2 team was in our division
10- we weren't very good, and again had a fr qb
11- we played for it, but lost to an undefeated team who played for the natty
12- played for it, but lost to the national champion
13- weren't good enough
14- probably should have played for it, this was bad

There's really only a few years out of 10 where you can say we woulda/coulda/shoulda done better. The rest of the time we simply weren't as good as other teams. Kinda like UT has been the last 10 years.

Honest question, what was this change?

I just keep this post I made on another thread bookmarked for this question...

quote:

With all the recent changes,(if you don't follow the program you're prolly not aware of the fundamental changes in the direction of how the AD is ran). We've increased our football spending by 35%, increased the overall football support staff by 15 people, we now pay our coaches a competitive SEC salary & our new president's commitment to winning has been made more than clear...

IMO, over the next 4 years Richt has to average 10+ wins, win a coupla of SECE titles, an SECC & make the playoffs at least once or he'll be asked to step down & I think most Dawg fans agree...

Everything he needs to reach the top of CFB is being funded/supported & implemented, the sleeping giant might be waking up. We'll see if CMR is the man by 2018...

I think Richt is going to ride out Eason's tenure then hang it up. He has always said that he wants to travel and do mission work with his family, and I believe that's his true calling and what he was put on earth to do.

We typically finish at a ranking that is very similar to our recruiting rankings. Not sure how that's underachieving.

at least he achieves stuff. Which is more than many others have.

he has a winning record against your coach in that time..

I think it's funny how so many people think richt sucks chode or is so awful, yet he has a winning record against most of those team's coaches

Good for him. I would drink and fly in expensive hookers if I had his money, but I guess he's just weird.

For serious, I respect any person that has a big passion outside of their craft. I don't beleive work defines a person.

If Richt had won a national title already I think he would have already retired. I fully believe that football coaching is 1Aandahalf on his list of priorities with mission work being 1A.0

At this point though, I think he's been renewed and really wants to prove he can win it all. I hope he does, there aren't many people out there I'd be more happy for than him.

Patently false. He achieves right around what his SEC recruiting rankings say he should for the most part.

Solid. It really floors me that UGA was lagging back so far in spending.
